He had me when he was asked if he had animosity for not being the first choice and came back with "I think I was my wife's 3rd choice".

That's coach speak that's been used a million times. Evan Woodberry even tweeted he predicted he'd say that prior to the news conference. So if that's what got you...look some more.

Butch Jones: "I think I was my wife's third choice." OUTRAGEOUS GUFFAWS!!! (I called it!)

I'll be the first to admit I wasn't a fan of this hire. But, after his first presser, I'll bite. We'll have to see what kind of staff he assembles. I'd love to see him keep Chaney, Graham, Pittman, and Hinshaw, but I doubt that will happen.

welcome to VN

When he said he wanted a person on staff who has been there, done that at Tennessee, he had me. I've said all year we only had one guy like that, and I don't think Dooley gave it a second thought.

I'll support him til he gives me reason not to.

Don't have much choice...

Go Vols

That guy knows what he's doing. I went in not really knowing what to expect... all I've got to say is, I'm all in.

Are you still hoping all of this is an episode of "Punk'd", and Jon Gruden really is the new coach?

People are so predictable. They have so much hope they forget how everything went down and instantly love the coach because of all the coach speak at the press conference. I warned when Dooley was hired and I'll warn again this time....I'm not saying to hate the guy and I'm warning you from falling in love with the guy until you see what he can recruit and what he can do on the football field. Everyone LOVED Dooley after his press conference as well and you see how that turned out.

Loved when Hart said CBJ looked at him and said, "Dave, this is my dream job!" I believe we have our man!!!

This is as good a hire as we could have expected, and I was extremely impressed with CBJ and his presser. I'm already excited for next year.

I felt like he had good things to say. Execution will be the key. I am cautiously optimistic and hopeful for the future.

He's going to have to earn my respect. I don't think he was the right hire, I don't think it went down the right way and I think our AD sold our loyal fanbase short. Like it or not, he's here now and he's not going anywhere, so we'll see who he hires and how he recruits. We need him to be successful here-- we can all agree on that.

It would be nice if we didn't have to put up with the preteen little girls on these big boy football sites. We have a coach the wants to be a Vol, wants to play 4 front def, reached out to T Martin for assistant, recommended by Payton and had Couch yell Hell yea when the 4 front was mentioned!!!!!!
What the hell else do you want. I believe he will take us up hill, not down hill.

81 year old Vol and have been since Life!

Go Vols!!!!!!

Back our coach just because he isn't Gruden doesn't mean he isn't better than Gruden. Gruden doesn't know the 1st thing about being a college coach after all he won with Dungy's players and then got fired from tampa because he doesn't understand how to BUILD.

Butch is PROVEN

He went 27-13 at UC he's 50-27 overall.

BACK HIM OR GET OUT!

I agree that AD did nothing but bad things on this coaching search. However, despite the bad things, I really think he accidently tripped into a great coach. We shall see. I am all in until I see different.

Its about time people get on board...The guy aint going anywhere and people can keep making pointless threads on here but unless your last name is Hart, its pointless to even bring up negative sh!t for another 3 years.

Dude had me sold before the presser but closed the deal with the whole "molding the scheme to the players" part.

+1
