Like many, I was underwhelmed by the Butch Jones hire. But the people (Hart) who made this decision know a lot more about college football and building a winning program than anyone posting on here does. Face it, we can't kidnap Jon Gruden or Mike Gundy and force them to come here. We got the best guy we could, and I'm excited to see what he can do in Knoxville.

Here's a guy with a 50-27 record in the MAC & Big East...compare that to Dooley, who had a losing record in the WAC. How were we not more pissed off about THAT at the time? CBJ has won and won big everywhere he's been- now it's time for him to replicate that success here. When LSU hired Les Miles, he was just 28-21 in 4 years at Oklahoma State, how'd that end up working out for them? And for those complaining about Jones' recruiting...all he had to sell was a mid-major program in a crappy conference with crappy facilities- he'll have a ton more to sell here. Also, as bad as Dooley was...he left this program a lot better off than he found it, in terms of depth and talent. The pieces are in place for CBJ to win and win quickly.

For anyone saying they're done with UT football before a newly hired coach has ever even coached a game...good riddance. You were obviously never really a fan to begin with.

Butch Jones followed Brian Kelly twice and inherited his program twice. He is now following Dooley, who is the worst coach in our history. Back him or get out? I'll reserve my opinion when I see which kids we sign and how they play on the field. Until he BUILDS tennesee I dont think he is a guarantee by any means.

Never liked the DD hire. Wasn't my first choice but solid. I'm on board unlike the DD train that I knew was doomed to derail.

Wow. Freedom of speech just got urinated on. Come on man, really. You actually think people are going to read your diatribe and say "he's right, I am going to get out cause I cannot chill". Let'em talk it up!! Some of this stuff is down right hilarious.

One guy said something earlier like "CBJ is like a 7 you take the prom and then find out later she has nuts". That's good stuff right there.

I'm in GBO. Get Cheeks out if his way n let him coach n recruite. Tennessee is n always will b a football school first. Cheeks needs to b gone, so we can get our guys in to play according to SEC rules. Not his.....

I will support him until he gives me a reason not to. Looking at next years schedule, it's gonna be a tough one. I think 6 wins at most but more like 4 or 5. Hopefully CBJ can start getting some hosses in and get our ship righted. GBO

I 110% agree. I usually don't post, just an observer, but all this fan crying and complaining is really ticking me off. To all those people complaining about "he only recruited 1 4*" and "his recruiting classes suck" should take a step back and think. He has won 50 games(including Conference Titles and Coach of Year) with less talent than he currently has on the TN roster. What does that tell you? The man can coach and is winner! Image what he could do will real SEC talent. If he puts this "GREAT" staff together it would not surprise me if we are in the SEC East hunt in 2 years.

If you are a real VFL then you will get behind our new coach and stop complaining.
