I'm tellin ya

I Hope Butch does well..I really do but I am in the let's see it on the field camp

With that being said this is EXACTLY what alot of season ticket holders are saying about our Yearly letters from the AD telling us about our "investment"
Before I get Slammed with a "if you don't like it don't do it" simplistic bull crap from people who don't write the check every year, let me tell you that without the average donor's commitment to the University this program would have gone to the wayside years ago No updates to Neyland not training facility and no buyouts for coaches

We have 3 Major donors and the rest are people like me
This program does not run on the 3 it takes the 70,000

FYI - Your own vaunted UT AD refers to donations and fan support as "investment" into the program!!!! Shall I pull quotes for you from the AD over the past decade???

And to say that the UT AD and its many programs has no responsibility to its fan base is completely and totally asinine!!! Without fans and their monetary support - whether it be in tix sales, required donations, other donations, merchandise sales, concession sales, tv contracts (without fan support in the magnitude that we are dealing with in the SEC - there would be no $$$$ TV deals) - there would no such thing as major college sports.

If UT Ad had no responsibility to its fans, then why do they do the numerous Vol road shows (or autograph sessions - meet your seats - junior Vol programs - Vol athletic camps - "tailgater" awards - "Core Values" of the UT AD include Service to our students, fans and community). In fact the UT AD and all of its coaches have said that they have a responsibility to the fan base!!!!

I really like Butch Jones but he has walked into a terrible situation. We have lost 3 of our 5 best players and we play at Oregon, at Florida, and at Alabama. Worst of all, Justin Worley will be our starting QB and our receivers are talentless. All of this plus a fan base that is tired of losing doesn't translate to good things for Butch. I hope we don't waste a season on Worley. Hopefully, we can bring in a true freshman and start him right away.

He will have more talent here overall than at Cincinnati. If the man can coach he has enough talent to be competitive. We have more talent than KY, Vandy, and Missouri, and we are on par with Auburn. We should beat all those teams. We should win all the non conference games except Oregon. We should be a 7 win team with a possible 8th win with a upset. Any less than seven wins will be under achieving IMHO.

Can I hold you to this prediction?

Failure to even combat your lousy example.

Great job, Sparty...

I thank you for saying I'm the most negative. Although I am pretty sure there are far more negative folks around.

You think people have to blindly follow without asking questions.

You are nothing but a weak follower. There is nothing wrong with demanding proof.

Even the most negative people around here love UT. It is the bad hires and crappy administration that people are negative about.

More dramatic bs. I've never said anything about asking questions or being critical or coaches. You are just a whiny *****. Plain and simple.
And i'm a "weak follower", "blindly" following? Following what? The team and program? Yep. You got a problem with it? Than keep *****ing. It's your skill.

Now that monday night football season is over, do you think Gruden will finally announce that he is coming to UT to be the real head coach?

As a BA major how many terms are misused by the media? That would include our AD.

you nailed right here..

"Without fans and their monetary support"

We are monetary support.

And I would expect nothing less than coaches and the AD stating they have a responsibility to the fans. We are the monetary support they need our money.

However if you are not happy with the results you have the choice. Pull your support by not sending in your check or continue to support your Vols.

Just a curious ??? at the end of the year how do you classify your donation?

Do you put it the investment bracket? If so what type of returns are you showing?

Or

Do you drop in the donations/charity bracket?

I am definitely no player and I'm guessing you're not either. I applaud your optimistic approach but please forgive me if I don't share it. If fans continually to blindly follow and accept poor performance the administration has no motivation to change. We are five years removed from fielding a competitive team. I will become interested in UT football when the U of T decides it will take it seriously.

Half a$$ guess makes you half right. I'm not a player now but I was at one time.:hi:

Business Administration.

What is was your major at UT (if you attended UT)?

I went to Tennessee Tech and got a Civil Engineering degree, but a co-worker of mine went to UT during the Peyton days (actually had a class with him) and also got a Civil Engineering degree. BA degrees are notorious for being bang or bust, IMO.

Merry Christmas

The recievers are talentless? Based on what observation? You're not giving them or Worley a chance to even take the field...

I really liked the chief but am so glad he stayed at LSU. I was watching their bowl game last night and with a 2 point lead, less than 2 minuites left on the clock, 3rd and 16, he did the same thing that he always does. Mustang!! You could see it a mile away and it cost LSU the game.

I would agree to a point, but I blame that loss on Les. A little clock management would have gone a long way. That was as bad as watching Dooley.

Once bitten, twice shy. This reminds me of when Dooley was hired. I'll wait till I see how he recruits and the team performs before I make a decision. Nothing wrong with those that want to give him the benefit of the doubt. Nothing wrong with being a little skeptical either.

Only difference is Dooley came in a loser and left a loser
Butch is a winner and will leave a ???
So we will see, never had any hope with Dooley

I'm not talking about either coaches qualifications more about many of the fans reaction to the hire. Many fans seem to be accepting CBJ as the next Neyland without one ounce of skepticism. Personally I can't do that and I am taking a wait and see approach.

Bj may be a great hire but it comes with a great risk at a time when we could ill afford a mistake. The University continually demonstrates it's unwillingness to take football as serious as many of the fans do.

I'm skeptical but with a more optimism then I had with Dooley. I just never believed in Dooley. At least there's some hope with jones

He seems to be doing everything in his power presently. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes more than that. I am hopeful too. I just have little confidence that any coach without a substantial resume can fix this. Recruits today want star power and coach BJ doesn't have that yet. We'll have to see how quickly he can develop it.

ANOTHER one of these threads. How many kiss butch's butt and feet threads do we need? Can't there just be a sticky forum or something like they had speculation on the head coach or whatever?

This is getting ridiculous. Every time we turn around, theres a new thread saying how excited someone is. Why does there need to be a new thread every few days about being excited. It's freakin January. Recruiting hasn't even finished. Let's put all the overzealous, excited, jumping up and down, just surpassed richt in twitter, ect in its own forum.

Tennessee will be back one day. It quite possibly may be with butch jones. Obviously he is a hard worker. He's a motivator. However, let's wait until next season comes and goes before we go crazy on him. Realistically speaking and I'll keep saying it, but he was the university's 5th pick.

Nearly a last ditch effort. (Gruden, gundy, strong, fedora) Now, could he surpass all expectations? Absolutely. Could he be a hidden treasure? Yes he could. I think he's a good coach. Never been a question. I just think a wait and see approach would be wise. You can like the hire. Be excited, but not post new threads every so often declaring it when you could simply add to the other thread started. The overzealousness just as the grudenites had in their quest and belief was annoying, this is reaching that point. Everyone wanted to wait and we about our new coach. They got tired of hearing about him. While this isn't on the same level, yet, it's getting equally annoying. Let the guy recruit and have a season before we declare him the next great coach.
