I've seen more enthusiasm just since he's been hired than probably in the last year or so. The fact that VFL are even saying more postive things now than what we've heard in the last few years should say something. He's opened the door that's been closed to them for the last three years. He's making contact with instate players; something not done in the last three years.

True, it'll have to be on the field before we all make final judgements but so far it's been impressive.

I just feel like this guy has the ability to get the most out of his players. Good coach's get the most out of his best players, great coach's get the most out of all of his players. I just think he has the ability to turn those two and three star guys into four and five star guys. His attitude, the belief in his system and his ability to get the players to believe in it. I think he really believes that UT is the best program in the country and he projects that to his players. That attitude can and will push those players to practice and play to those standards. Just my opinion and I base that on his past experience and what he has said and done since he has been here.

What facts/evidence do you base these statements? The guy TIED for first twice in the Big East! The fact is that CBJ did not do as well as Brian Kelly at Cincy! And based upon recruiting rankings, Kelly did more with less talent than CBJ.

That being said, CBJ has a tough job ahead of him. If cannot consistently recruit in the top 10 nationally with a top 5 thrown every 3-4 years then he will not be successful at UT.

Now it remains to be seen whether he and his staff can recruit with the likes of Sabin, Miles, Muschamp, Spurrier, Richt, Kelly x 2, Brown, Stoops, Kiffen, Meyer, Fisher, and Swinney! And whether he CBJ can coach with the big boys! It will take a cpl years to answer the questions.

His entire post is filled with words like "think" "feel" and "opinion". He's perfectly entitled to all of those.

Never like Dooley. Always said it was a bad hire since he was hired. I like BJ and I'm excited like when we got Kiffin. I'm glad he is ditching some of DD's slow, low rated recruits.

Never huddled up as a player with another player that was skeptical of anything. You hit the field believing in your coach and your system "wide open". No matter what the circumstances are.

We're fans not players. But I'm with you, I have faith in Butch Jones. He's done everything right up to this point and has me excited again

Instead of posting some ignorant video (I will give you its funny) why don't you explain why you think its a "fail"? If your gonna make a statement then back it up with something tangible.
It's as retarded to gush over a new head coach, who hasn't even coached a single down here, yet, as it was for the same crack fiends to pump sunshine over Dooley all last year and were eager to claim Sal Sunseri "a Bada$$"...who was instilling some toughness and discipline...yada, yada, yada. BS.

Sure, we all hope for the best, but this pre-mature cheerleading routine is ridiculous. FAIL thread of the week.

With our five future NFL players on the offensive line, I actually see us beating low scoring Florida in Gainesville next season. And I believe that with the games at home, we can split with Georgia and USCjr.

I think that Butch Jones will be the SEC Coach of the Year. When I look at next year, I am excited.

It's absolutely impossible to tell when you're being serious. Nice work.

So, all joking aside, how do you honestly feel about CBJ?

I love him!!! Seriously! Great spirit. He looks like a football coach. Definitely saying all the right things. Interested in getting the UT name back into the local high schools. Excellent resume! Has won at every stop. Four championships in six years. And I loved that the majority of his staff was willing to follow him here. And he is squarely in the age range where I was hoping we would hire. Old enough to have been head coach for six years. But still young enough to have a super high energy level.

In summary, as we approach Christmas, 2012,...I think the Volunteer football program is in its the best shape since around 2002-2004ish.

I think he's the combo of Kiffin/Dooley that I wanted since Fulmer was fired.

He thinks like a winner - Kiffin
He manages his process - Dooley
He gets out there front and center - Kiffin
He runs a clean program - Dooley

My list of reasons for liking him is way longer than my list of reasons not to. I don't wanna waste any time that I could be enjoying with great anticipation our upcoming season. But I don't want to be let down again either.

I think I'll know more the first week in February. I will tell you though, we are absolutely renewing our tickets for the upcoming season, no question.

Thanks VG...it hit me after I posted that...meant to ask for your thoughts. Thanks for sharing. Yes, we will know a lot more within about six weeks. I think he can sell the school....but we shall see. In this incoming class, we got two guys who have been die-hard vols since birth. They both turned out to be really good players. Hopefully, they will be a cornerstone for us.

FLSTF-VOL flamed someone for making statements that were unsubstantiated, so I returned the favor with some FACTS about CBJ compared to B Kelly.

I get we you are coming from, but think about it, you have 3 choices:

-be bitter and forget about volunteer football.
-be hopeful and support our new coach (until he gives a reason not to)

-be angry and attack our new coach and everything he does, undermine his every move, tell us how if we don't get a top 10 recruiting class he is worthless... you can do that, is very easy,

there is nothing you can do to change who our coach is at this moment. Maybe the administration fricked up, it does not matter, we have a coach and he will either be successful or fail. Why not do everything we can to help him be successful?:hi:

In my mind, there is a forth option:

Watch CBJ with fair and critical analysis (critical defined as involving skillful judgment as to truth, merit, etc.) and see how he does. Will he be able to recruit with the big boys of college football - can he coach with the big boys in the top-10???? It is one thing to bring the very best out of your players (see Bruce Pearl) and its another to out coach your opponent. Frankly going 5 and 2 in the big east does not inspire me - please keep in mind that Urban Meyer at Utah was 22 and 2!

I will not blindly support CBJ nor this Athletic Department based upon a presser and enthusiasm. The proof about CBJ is in the proverbial "pudding". When CBJ proves that he can recruit top 10 and top 5 classes and proves that he can out coach top SEC opponents, then he will have my support but until then.

Fair enough, it is your choice, just don't deride those that choose different.:hi:

Good to know we have supporters that will jump back on the bandwagon when/if cbj starts winning, and not support him until then. I guess that is now called blind following, by some fools on here. Don't support your child crawling before he walks either. Be there after its all happened. That's the way to go.
It's bandwagon, and you can go hang with the 1000's of bama bandwagon fans rolling around. You are no different.
