Indigenous Marchers, Covington Catholic HS, and Black Israelites preachers = a buffet of media mess

Once the mob has their pitchforks and torches they're not going to stop until someone burns at the stake. I've tried giving the full story to some of my friend who are still going off on the original video. The full length version doesn't fit their narrative so it may as well not exist.
Antifa has apparently made threats. I feel terrible for those kids going through this. It is way past time for us a society to deal with these anarchists.

I really wish we could find a different name for that group. Fascism is bad, being against fascism is good, but you can't be anti-fascist because a bunch of anarchist crazies appropriated the term.

I only see the one, black face and white eyes and lips. Lil black Sambo had the white eyes and red lips.

Maybe there was no intent at racism at all or maybe they just suck at details. Either way, all white people that put blackface make-up on in any capacity and have even the slightest potential of being photographed taunting a black kid should pump thine brakes and reconsider.
I am unable to see that level of detail on mobile. It can be seen in poor taste to paint your face black and taunt rival athletes when they are black.
I believe those that see a problem have the problem.

Care to elaborate?

Are you suggesting that people who are offended by black face paint shouldn't because of feels?

It's not like that picture was taken back in the '30s... Yes, a lot of people have a problem with such ignorance.

Yes, I get agitated at the lack of civility shown to my friends. One of my friends, and undergraduate international student from Honduras, was accosted in the edge of campus by two students in a jacked-up pickup truck flying a Confederate flag. They pulled up in front of him and yelled at him to go back to Mexico. When he replied "I'm not from there, Mexico will just deport me back here," they got pissed. He ducked inside the gas station he had just left and waited until they left.

The orchestra program here at Southern Miss has sixteen countries represented, with most of our grad students coming from South America. One of my best friends in my PhD program is from Mexico City. The stories that have to share about the kindness they experience will warm your heart, but they've also got horrible stories of their time here intersecting with gross levels of xenophobia and isolationism.

I just shrugged all of this kind of thing off as happening somewhere else to people I didn't know until it started happening within blocks of me to people I hold dear. It changes your perspective a bit. I hurt for them when they're treated like trash; it stirs up a righteous indignation.
I assume they are all legal? I am 100% for legal immigration, Hispanics in particular. My wife's former boss, technical field, was from mexico. He was her best supervisor ever. If you stop, ahem, control illegal immigration, it will help with the prejudices that you have observed. It won't eliminate them but it will significantly reduce them. A lot of the legal, Hispanic immigrants, that I've spoken with resent the ones that come illegally. Illegal immigration hurts the ones that do it the right way.

As an employer of blue collar folks, I especially appreciate what Hispanic labor has meant to this country. I have tried to hire a few Hispanics but unfortunately, I have not found the right fit yet. They either don't have the necessary skills or don't know enough English to be able to effectively communicate.

I've tried to open up opportunities for them myself, the problem I've found is that most won't travel.

To enroll at USM as a student, they are required to have fully up to date paperwork renewed annually, proof of insurance, and have passed the ToEFL exam. We don't take chances; our strings program is competitive enough that any non compliant student has ten more behind him willing to follow the rules to get here.

I understand what you're saying about hiring and fit. My mom's brother owns a tree nursery in Dunlap (McDowell Nursery). He went through people like crazy until he found seasonal workers who clicked with him. When he did, he did what it took to keep them. He and my aunt even drove down into Mexico a couple times in past years to visit their families in the off season.

Then I've failed at establishing any sort of credibility. Might be a sign for me to slip quietly back to lurking elsewhere here.
Well, if you’re going to grad school in Hattiesburg i’d say that’s close enough to purgatory (a concept taught to Catholic kids at any rate).

Kamala Harris approved giving illegal aliens drivers licenses in Cali. Can you imagine coming to a 4 way stop one direction and the illegal another and he can't read the word stop?

Yes they're going to drive no matter what but as a government you had better make sure that person can read English and understand the driving laws before issuing them a license.
