Initial Bracket Thoughts.

The Midwest is incredibly talented. They most likely have the best #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, and #6 seeds in the tournament. Kansas should be pissed right now.

I saw that on espn, but all the games are listed as noon starts, and I don't even think ANY games start that early so I assume it just hasn't been updated yet.

The earliest they start is usually at around 12:15-12:20. Going by recent history, I'd say Tennessee-San Diego State is probably a early-mid afternoon game.

First games are definately at noon EST. It goes something like this for each site: noon, 2:30, break, 7, 9:30 as the times

Post this on a fresh tread if you like, your site wont let a new member start one up without 20 posts! You think you got snubbed? Aztecs should be an 8. Here is a summary of what you have to tangle with.

Aztecs are very long and athletic - Comparable to Syracuse physically. Very stingy defense and one of the best rebounding teams in the country. Aztecs could beat anyone on any given day, especially if shots are falling. 40 minutes of full court press. Usually play a man defense with much switching due to all players being tall, long and athletic. The Aztecs are a mismatch for small teams

Starters

PG - DJ Gay. Playing pt out of necessity, really a SG. 6-2, court leader, not dynamic but plays under control. Good from 3

SG - Chase Tapley Freshman who is clutch, sweet stroke, makes few turnovers and shoots sparingly. plays great D. Has a broken thumb right now, play time is questionable

F - Billy White - 6'9 post player, can slash and plays lead full court press. long and athletic

F - Kawhi Leonard - 6'8 Freshman of yr in Mtn west. One of the best rebounders in the country. A potential future lottery pick and an absolute beast. 16 pts, 21 rebounds on Sat night. You will have your hands full

C - Malcolm Thomas - 6-9 Shot blocker, slasher, dunker and all around match up problem for a slower C

Bench

C - Brian Carwell - 6'11, 295 lb transfer from Illinois. Space eater, good feet, solid off the bench monster

G - Kelvin Davis - 6'4 3 pt specialist.

F - Tyrone Shelley - scorer but prone to turnovers and defensive lapses.

Thats is short bench.

Overall, you all are going to have your hands full The starting 5 can play with anyone in the country and are used to playing many minutes. One achilles heal is Free throw shooting, one of the worst in the country, but has been better as of late.

Any questions?

We HATE San Diego State around here. They're like, our geographic rivals.

Seriously, thanks for the breakdown, but you can't make a thread unless you have 20ish posts.

It is all going to come down to how well Chism and Williams defend your 3 forwards. If Chism gets his 2nd foul early it will be a long night.

Looks like we should try to run them out of the gym and just play everybody.

The press may be beneficial here, especially since it looks like they have no real point guards on the roster.

Damn dude! If our description is correct then SDSU should have little problem making it to the Final 4.
If you really believe that, have you contacted Vegas and put some on it? You should go large.

They're a naturally pressing team. I would think it would be in our favor to play them out of their element and slow it down a bit... But then, maybe see how things go running with them first.

what really bothers me about how the SEC faired in all this is not that FLA got it so much as it is they got a 10 seed and Mississippi State didnt get in at all.... NO WAY florida has a 10 resume..... they are a twelve loss team and played ONE quality non-conference opponent. meanwhile Mississippi State almost beat kenSucky twice with one of those games being in the conference championship. the west was garbage this year but i think that what they did this weekend shouldv'e gotten them in....

Syracuse
Michigan State
FSU

hes right for the most part expect for davis is not a 3pt specialist at all, and shelley is not really a scorer

Ok, fair enough. Our negatives are huge. We are bottom 10 ft% shooting team in the country. We only shoot 30% from 3. We are prone to Turnovers. We panic in big games late in the game.

As of late, all of the above has been better. We are a tough out, but of course are beatable. In the end, we are always the most Athletic team on the court, its a matter of playing good team basketball.

Bend over Vol Nation...NCAA screws us as hard as possible just like usual.

Sure SDSU is a much harder team then who we should be playing, but making us play Georgetown in Providence is the biggest slap in the face in the tournament.

Who really cares about SDSU, if we lose to them we would have been torched by Georgetown anyways. Add to the fact that we SHOULD BE A 4.

Waste of time scheduling teams like Kansas for anything other than recruiting.

The draw duke got is unreal. You almost want to do an investigation to see if any money changed hands.

Guess you missed the part where they fun the full court press almost all the time.

Maybe you missed the part where they don't have a point guard, or play their starters almost the whole game, or they are prone to turnovers. Thanks for your input. The next time I need it, I'll ask.

They're a naturally pressing team. I would think it would be in our favor to play them out of their element and slow it down a bit... But then, maybe see how things go running with them first.

With them having a short bench and not having a PG it makes sense for us to use our depth. Just because they can press doesn't mean they can handle it being thrown back at them.
