Injuries piling up for Florida

Nonsense...Gillislee had a target on his back and a gimpy groin, and he still gashed UT's defense in the second half.

Our best LB JJenkins missed the game last year and a true freshman stepped in and played exceptionally well.

UT fell apart mentally when faced with any semblance of adversity (Hunter's injury, Burton's TD run). Luckily for you guys Dooley is gone, because I believe he was the source of that softness.

the gators should be tough notwithstanding some chinks. 10 wins possible.

biggest losses are Elam and Strurgis.

Are you suggesting they played no role?

Injuries didn't affect us last year.

For all the grief Urban Meyer took here for mentioning UF's flu bug following our '09 game, there sure are a bunch of folks making excuses.

Injuries happen...next man up.

Agree 100% about Sturgis...hey, we agreed on something! :dance2:

Marcell Harris will be a stud at SS before he's done. Barring injury or any unforeseen defections, UF's secondary will be deadly for the next 2-3 years.

will the fans tolerate 3 in a row to UGA?

Year in and year out....Florida has a way of stinking up the field for their first two cupcakes games. They look like they can barely spell football.

Then.....

They play UT and everything magically rolls in their favor. They end up looking like NC contenders.

I'm so tired of this same story I've had to watch for so many years. I truly wish we could replace Candy with Florida. We play them late in the year and our chances are greatly improved (IMHO)

How'd you like the UF fumble at their goal line early last year, and the ball just sat there for 2-3 seconds before a Gator luckily came along?

Looks like his recruiting has fallen off (even before Hernandez and Cooper incidents)?

Not sure what AH and RC's troubles have to do with recruiting.

But yes, UF's recruiting is down at this point compared to last year.

If you were recruiting vs. UF for a black player, you wouldn't bring up these incidents? And throw in George Zimmerman for effect?

I think you'd be insulting the intelligence of that recruit and his parents.

"Mr. and Mrs. Jones, you are aware of course that a lot has been written lately about at least one program in this league that for years has let their players run wild, resulting in arrests during and after college, and other potentially career-ending problems. At _____, we take great pride in our commitment and proven ability to nurture our student-athletes so they learn and exert discipline and good judgment during and after college....etc., etc., etc."

You're assuming Mr. and Mrs. Jones aren't intelligent enough to know there's a different coaching staff in place at that one particular program...a coaching staff that, in its first season at that particular program, dismissed a future NFL 1st round CB and best defensive player who couldn't keep his nose clean.

That's an easy counter for Muschamp's staff.

Please share with us how you'd work George Zimmerman into your recruiting pitch.

After all, Sanford is only 2+ hours away from Gainesville.

several of those seasons, they were national title contenders

Last year is the first year in recent memory when I thought we were in trouble against UT based on our first two games.

I cant think of another year after 2003 where I didn't think we had the better team.

you should know by now, he holds out hope that florida football will return to circa 1978/1979 levels.

it's fun to follow his imagination as to how this will occur

I post on multiple message boards...guess that makes me a fan of LSU, UCF and ESPN.

Or a lonely person without flesh and blood friends, haunting rival boards for want of online ones. Well,
I'll call it a day for our little exchanges. Was nice playing tic tac toe with you.

As everyone knows, Florida lost a lot of their 11-2 team. Their Offense is returning 6/11 starters and their Defense is only returning 3/11 starters from last year.

However, in their preseason/Spring depth chart they've lost an additional 5 starters for the 2013 season due to various injuries. All of these were predicted starters. The bold names are returning starters.

MLB Morrison - suspended due to arrests. It's Florida, arrests don't matter.

RG Halapio - torn pectoral. Should be back for season but losing Fall Camp time. Can't get cleared for at least another full week at best.

LG Garcia - back. He should be in playing shape, but back injuries take a long time to heal and rigors of football don't allow much healing time.

QB Driskel - emergency appendectomy. Will miss multiple weeks of camp at best.

RB Matt Jones - severe viral infection. This was just announced. No specifics but it sounds like it could be very bad for him.
Bottom line?

They're fine for 2013
