So now it is about Obama. There are millions on both sides of the aisle concerned about Obama. My point was that most rich republicans are republicans because they are fiscally conservative.

You started this off by saying conservative values were NOT linked to being rich.

Fiscal conservatism is at the heart of conservative values - at least the ones represented most strongly on this board.

whose arguing that rich republicans aren't fiscally conservative? fiscally conservative isn't the same thing at all as saying people are republicans because they don't want to pay taxes.

I looked for it and some hack-job site led me through about 20 sub-links until I got to a report from 2004 in which a Psychology Professor at Case Western Reserve and a Boston Globe article claimed that IQ and SAT scores are directly correlated.

I should have articulated my position better. My fault. When I was speaking of conservative values, I was referring to social matters.

being a career student doesnt' make you smarter than anyone else. there are plenty of very brilliant people who think spending 12 years getting a useless phd is a poor risk reward relationship.

I think any amount of time spent on this board would indicate that most of the righties here are strong on fiscal conservatism and middle of the road on social matters.

The direction of Republicans and Independents is likewise centered around fiscal conservatism. I hope it stays that way.

An extremely high SAT or IQ is highly correlated to intelligence and generally success in life just like an extremely low SAT or IQ is highly correlated to a lack of success. to argue otherwise is silly. it's the scores in the middle that can be debated.

I got my useless PhD in 10 (total years in college) so the risk/reward was better for me...:)

But to use that as damning evidence to claim that states with lower SAT scores are "dumber" is asinine. Completely.

The SAT comes down to preparation. Nothing more. I got more than an adequate score without any preparation. Would getting more sleep have made me more intelligent as a person? No. The SAT does nothing to quantify aptitude.
