Invitation to USU Fans

designed perimeter runs don't hurt us as bad as a qb breaking the pocket against man coverage. we don't have the lb speed to catch him before he makes big gains. no telling how many 3rd down conversions we gave up last year due to this.

If you watched much of the Super Bowl this year, Robert Ayers kept letting Wilson break the pocket on pass plays. I'm pretty sure he learned that while playing at UT. :)

I'm all Dobbs . U can drink the fergie-Aid if u want but don't be surprised if it turns out to taste like pis.

Spring practice preview: Quarterback

senior justin worley is coming off thumb surgery from an injury that not only ended his season last october but has also limited him this winter. Worley has the most experience and played his two best games (vs. Georgia and south carolina) before breaking the thumb in the first half at alabama. Everyone wonders how much rust worley will have when spring ball opens.

Sophomore josh dobbs went 1-3 as a starter, throwing for 695 yards and 2 touchdowns while throwing 6 interceptions. The georgia native spent much of his off-season adding weight and working with his long time quarterback coach both in atlanta and on the beaches of california. The focus is on improving his accuracy particularly with the deep ball.

Redshirt sophomore nathan peterman has one career start in an ugly afternoon at florida where peterman went 4 of 11 for 5 yards and 2 interceptions in breaking his thumb. Peterman didn't play the rest of the year and everyone wonders where peterman's confidence is after such a difficult first start.

Maybe the quarterback generating the most buzz among the fans is redshirt freshman riley ferguson. All fans love the quarterback they have never seen in action. Ferguson drew some praise last fall from head coach butch jones and had it not been for a stress fracture in his leg, the north carolina native would have by all accounts played ahead of dobbs. Ferguson has the strongest arm on the depth chart. He's a better athlete than most give him credit for and he's arguably the best competitor of the group. But the fact is ferguson hasn't proven himself and how far along he is mentally in running offensive coordinator mike bajakian's system.

just sayin

Checked out their little website, not to bad. Except their dismissal of the Volunteer name, I guess their history books only go back to the beginning of the previous century. Must be a Mormon thing, I guess they're written by olé Joe Smith Jr as well.

I moseyed over early this AM too just to see what was there. The mocking is mild in my view. We do worse when mocking Bama and Florida. Unfortunately, they seem to have the typical misunderstanding of how "Vols" is pronounced so the attempt to post an illustration of a "vole" as a "Vol." In case any of you USU fans are reading this, get educated, this is a vole, not that naked rat you have on your site:

To be fair, there have been multiple dismissals of the Aggie name by Vols on our website.

I couldn't care less, but it seems odd that y'all care and seem to be getting your panties in a bunch, when you are doing the same...

I wondered what they were trying to do with that mole looking thing. I left a little more information in the 'calling all volunteers ' thread. Look up the overmountain men, I believe these were our first TN Volunteers. Though the name actually came from the Spanish - American war. It really makes you proud to be a Tennesseean.

Sadly you are correct. I regularly see Vols fans behavior on other sites I visit. Mostly non-SEC opponents as I like to get what I think is a fresh view outside the conference of both our and their teams. It's common to see Vols fans Bama-ize and Gatorize these opponents' forum. In short behave the same way we accuse the Bama and Gator fans of behaving here. Then get all snottily self-righteous when they get it hurled back in their faces.

Hey, Dutch! Yeah, I recall now the Over Mountain men. Unfortunately for me, it wasn't taught in school. But I was sitting down one day surfing my DirecTV channels and settled on one of my favorite channels, History. They had a documentary about this that now you've reminded me, I'd love to see it again. Thanks.

I remember seeing part of that same documentary a while back. I do like the history channel and history in general. It's nice to see others are still interested in it as well. I will be looking for it again.

Don't get me wrong either I love Utah, from the canyon land's to Salt Lake City we have always had a great time there and I will be planning more trips there in the future. I saw where someone said it looked like the moon? I guess maybe the desert around Moab, but still that area's rich with color, not like the plain gray of the moon.

Hey,

I'm excited to watch USU play against UT for the opening game this year. I have to convince the gf to head to Tennessee over Vegas this year if I'm going to get to go to the game. (I'll be in Vegas) I don't know how many of you are on Reddit, but last season there was a bunch of good threads to introduce each other to the university that you love. Here is the one about Utah State. http://http://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/1jyihp/132_teams_in_132_days_the_utah_state_university/

Just in case you didn't catch it last year, here is the one for Tennessee
http://http://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/1b6ikv/132_teams_in_132_days_the_university_of_tennessee/

Hoping for a great game. Go Aggies!

I really think this game could go either way. Are we going to get the S.C. or Vandy Tennessee team? I can't wait for the season tho. This will be a good meter of where we are for sure.

Mexican American War. Mexico had already gotten independence a couple of decades earlier. Spanish American war happened in 1898.

Funny thing is, James Polk was the one who picked the fight with him in the first place... A Tennessean. Ain't that something? Severely underrated president, he was.

I knew that didn't sound right. The name is from the war of 1812 when General Jackson commanded volunteers from TN in the battle of New Orleans.
