Iowa Caucus

A few thoughts:

Pretty surprised how well Santorum did. Romney got pretty much the exact same vote count in Iowa in 2008. Ron Paul more than doubled his 2008 vote total. He's not gonna win, but the message is spreading.

Santorum went all out in Iowa, practically lived there for the last 6 months. I don't think he has the national organization to keep going long term which is unfortunate because he brings a lot of good to the race. I think this will be a two person race within a month, Romney and Paul. Gingrich will do everything he can to tear down Paul, leaving the race to Romney and ultimately keeping Obama in the White House for another 4 years. My prediction.

I think Gingrich will do everything he can to tear down Romney. He is upset about all the negative adds ran against him in IA will go after Romney hard. Newt does know how to play the game. I don't think he can do a great deal of damage to Romney in NH but SC is a differnt story. SC primary is going to get nasty. If Romney can survive SC, he is on his way to nomination.

It'd be nice if the former governor hadn't screwed the pooch (his name escapes me). I'd bet he would've thrown his weight behind Paul. Sucks, too. That guy was awesome. Stupid affair.

Posted this in the Ron Paul Can't Win thread, but thought it would be good to put it here also. Says Paul could have walked away with a majority of the delegates simply by having his folks stick around for the delegate vote that followed the straw poll. Interesting.

Ron Paul May Have Secretly Won The Iowa Caucuses

Looks like Bachmann is out this morning.
Just saw where she has cancelled her trip to SC and has scheduled a presser to dicuss her campaign.

With Bachmann and Perry out,who does this help the most in SC, Santorum or Paul ?

Santorum might have lived there for 6 months but Ron Paul lived there since the last caucus. Ron Paul did so well because someone can walk up and register as a R then vote, my guess is a good bit of dems did this and he got all their votes.

Do you see that as problematic? Like it's corrupting the party or something? Seems to me a guy that can make D's into R's is a good asset.

Not the way I see it, they would rather have Paul win than any of the other guys because 2 things, he is easier to beat and on many issues he is more liberal than Obama.

Do you know what liberal means? It's pertaining to liberty. Liberals aren't really liberal. They've bastardized the term. He's more liberal than Obama on everything. Obama is not truly liberal, he is a large government progressive.

So you think they are double agents trying to make Paul win cause they know he can't beat Obama? Paul is polling very well against Obama, so that may not be the best strategy.

The Nicky Haley endorsement in SC will help Romney - and he's gonna need it.

Big time. If the top four stay in the race that far, I can see Romney finishing fourth. A distant fourth.

He would do better in Florida, as it is more cosmopolitan, less Evangelical, and better educated. But he'll get killed in the deep south states relative to Santorum, and that is particularly if Perry and Bachmann drop out, as seems to be the case.

Definition of a liberal: We don't agree on everything 100%, which means you are a flaming liberal and closet mooslim.

I know this is a big joke on this board that's been funny for a while, but while "mooslim" isn't proper spelling, it is proper pronunciation. The "u" is phonetic by international standards as I understand them.

I mean on foreign policy issues.

I hate to break it to you, but traditional conservatism is to avoid entangling alliances, trade with everyone, and protect our borders. It's exactly what Paul espouses. The Dems were the ones taking us to war (WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam), not the Republicans. Neocons are warhawks, true conservatives are not.

There is just no end to this discussion. RP is very naive on foreign policy, he believes we are to blame for the 9/11 attacks and believes we just stay within our borders and not go to war for anything and these radical muslims will love us and wants to be our friend.

I am done talking about RP, he has a small group of followers and most of them are dope smoking college kids who don't have a clue, make love not war hippies, moderates or democrats. Some of his followers will fall in line with the candidate and the others will simply sit at home, either way it's not a big deal.
