Iowa...

I have no idea, it was preached to me at the last church i went to. he said 'God said so' and held up the Bible "It's all in here"

Did you ever look for yourself? As a pastor, I always tell my congregation not to believe a word I say but to search for themselves. The Bible says to study to show THYSELF approved. You need to find another church. BTW, I'm a southern baptist.

I probably won't because I do know that it says Homosexuality is wrong. I'm married myself but I think people should decide who they want to be with.

Don't give up, there is such a thing as right and wrong. It's not all gray.

See bold.

sadly most, that say they have "talked" to God, are just wanting attention or to grow their congregation...ie....more money

the Bible is very detailed about this subject...remember, religion is "of man".....take what the Bible says, not what any man says, as truth

That takes me back to the point that men wrote the Bible. Until there is proof that God actually wrote it, i can't believe it.

Well Put.

How much of a difference are we talking about here? Just homosexuality or deeper?

My main problem with the Bible is instructing people how to live their lives. If God wanted us to live a certain way he wouldn't have given us a brain.
Instructions on sexuality is secondary.

I think that if you would actually read it, you would see that "men" are not the ultimate author of the Bible.

Not to be mean, but your excuses, about not beleiving the Bible is true, are pretty weak since you have not read it.

I understand. But you believe other books that must have helped get you to this point that where written by men. As T-Town said earlier, we as Christians understand that men penned the Bible but believed it's word where inspired by God.

Who said i haven't read it?

Have you....really....I took from your comments about just hearing it preached some time ago, that you have not.

The Bible does not tell how to live our lives, it give the examples of how Christ lived his life and that is what we are all to strive to copy....not on of us can....but that is the goal

once you believe the Bible, you will WANT to live by the examples found inside

My views initially started young when I thought about how God really could manifest himself anytime he wanted if he wanted everyone to believe. Not rely on disciples to spread the word for him. Then i thought about how creation was explained and there is so much other proof that it didn't happen in 7 days. And why does the Bible leave out everything that happened before man came about? (Dinosaurs, Ice Age. etc.)

DF, in regards to your question of where it says that we are to warn others: Ezekiel 3:18-19 and Ezekiel 33:8-9. 1 Thes. 5:14

Mind telling me which thesaurus says "warn" and "enforce" are synonymous?

Fine, tell everybody that we must repent or burn. But dammit, don't use the Bible for self interest. That encapsulates everything I despise about human religion.

"Thou shall vote 'gainst unholy legislation, lest thy world fall into darkness"

Which verse is that?

I'll admit, i haven't read all of it. But at least 80%

But if living like Christ is the goal then why enable us to think for ourselves?

Because that affects millions of people, the quality of our health care, and it's another huge factor in the fiscal problems we're facing down the road. Shoddy comparison.

Question for you: who would same sex marriages hurt?

I'm not comparing. I'm saying one can vote an issue that doesn't impact him.

I don't care who it does or doesn't hurt and I'm personally all for gay marriage, but lack of hurt isn't any kind of criterion.

T-town and Oldvol, you gotta understand. When a non-believer reads the Bible, he/she is just as capable of understanding it as ya'll are. The bible can be interpreted in many different ways, and just because our interpretations differ does NOT mean one party understands it less than the other. That's the sort of logic that paints an ugly color on the congregation.

he gives us free will so that we can make the choice on our own,to follow him...it is pretty simple when you think about it
