I somewhat agree with DF here.
IMO, since the early 80s, too many Christians have become more concerned with impacting the laws of the land instead of simply preaching the Gospel. And I'm not buying the argument that impacting laws and preaching the Gospel are one in the same.
That was more directed toward spreading the gospel, sorry if it confused.
However, if you have the opportunity to vote for or against something (voicing your beliefs), I have no problem with that either.
Organized religion and huge fundraising for monuments is grotesque. Hijacking political processes is irritating. Much of the movement is overrun with uneducated folks who act as if the other side of the argument is too dense to understand the debate.

I have no problem with voting for or against something. I do - often. My point is that too many Christians care about legislating sin and morality than they do it preaching the Gospel to non-believers. IMO, there are too many Christians out there that really don't differ that much from a 1st century Pharisee.
Yes. Relationship with Christ / God is a very personal thing. The rewritten Bible of the early popes bastardized a lot of the message, IMO. The conversion of giving to a "tithe" smacks of fiefdom building and the Vatican is proof.

this it in a nutshell....I like to think that what I say might influence someone, but it really does not.....each individual has to come to grips and make that decision for themselves
No argument. As a Baptist pastor I agree that in some cases the church has lost it's way. As I tell the congregation I pastor, it's not about the building and the programs. It's about going to church with a purpose. That purpose can only be for one thing and one thing only. That is to worship God and His Son, Jesus Christ. If a person goes for any other reason, they are wasting their time. That includes preaching the gospel to those that don't know him.
