iPhone

Agreed. Just sucks having to drive an hour+ for an Apple store

I had an issue with my iPad repeatedly crashing. I called Apple and at first they suggested going to a store. When I explained the nearest store was 1.5 hours away they just sent me a new one with return postage to send to defective one back.

Hook phone up to iTunes & see how it has your storage usage broke down. If you have a large amount of storage in "other" might be some corrupt files or something & may need to restore as new.

Really considering an install of ios7. Just hate to give up jailbreak, but most of the features I jailbroke for are included in ios7.

Decisions, decisions.

Free tethering will keep me put for awhile.

Yeah, I don't really have that need. I rely just want to play around with the new iOS more than anything. Too bad any upgrade requires me to forfeit my jailbreak until who knows when.

I'm sure it will be awhile. There's a few iOS 7 things on cydia. I have iOS 7 theme & it offers a lot of the app icons & such as well as a good bit of the UI.

maybe not the appropriate thread but I'm thinking of moving off the iPhone to Android (HTC One).

thoughts?

I left the iPhone(4s) for for the Galaxy S3. While I liked the Galaxy I liked the iPhone better. Better app market. I ended up finding someone to trade the S3 for an iPhone 5. Glad I made the switch back.

There's a lot to like about Android. Each platform has its strengths and weaknesses.

Any particular reason for the switch? Do you consider yourself tech saavy? Do you like to tinker and test the limits of an operating system or do you prefer one that just works?

What is it about the One specifically that attracts you over say the Samsung Galaxy S4?

Reason for switch - more screen real estate.

Tech saavy? - meh, if I set my mind to it I can figure it out but generally just want a bigger platform - that's why I asked about the Note II

One vs S4 - design primarily and reviews show them neck and neck.

I used to like HTC but I think I'd take Samsung over them now. The S3 was a nice phone.

So yours is a choice of which Android device to purchase.

My research led me to the same three phones which have been mentioned: the HTC One, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Samsung Note 2. None of them are perfect, each has its benefits and its flaws.

I think the One wins the design award. It's a beautiful phone. The aluminum looks much more distinguished than the plastic. That said, I decided against it for several reasons.

First off, I'm not very familiar with Sense, which is the Android overlay that HTC uses. Some users with existing HTC devices are upset by the lack of software updates, but I can't say whether Samsung is any better. In my limited trials at the store, I preferred the Samsung interface.

Second, and it may be just me, but the screen seemed narrower than the S4. I never checked the actual dimensions, but side by side I favored the Samsung. The S4 has the most beautiful display of any phone I've seen.

Third, and most importantly for me, I wanted the ability to replace the battery and use a memory card for extra storage. The One, like the iphone, doesn't offer this option.

Inevitably, I chose the Note II over the S4 for screen size and battery life. All of the tech reviewers I follow on YouTube really love the Note and use it as their "daily driver". That said, it's too big for some people to use comfortably and the screen isn't quite as bright or sharp as the S4.

All three are great phones and I believe you would be happy with any one of them.

Good luck!
