Bought an Otterbox for the first time for my 5 and now swear by them. Bought my wife one for hers. They are outstanding

Mine has saved my iPhone more than once, for sure. Not to mention if anything happens to the Otterbox itself, they'll replace it with minimal hassle for free.

All overpriced IMO. Just pay for insurance and/or Apple Care then get a cheap case to minimize everyday wear and tear.

Wife bought a life proof case for her iPhone 5. It's great for water proofing (too bad she doesn't work on a fishing boat) but really does nothing to protect from drops. When she uses speaker phone (which does a lot) it restricts the mic from picking up everything she says. Plus it makes the phone feel like a cheap plastic Samsung.

This is what I did. I've never bought a case for it and I'm coming up on a year of having my iPhone 5, and the most noticeable damage is a tiny chip on the back about the size of a pin head. It'll only cost me $50 to get a whole new phone with Apple Care which IMO is better than paying for the ridiculous OtterBox which makes the phone about 4 times it's actual size.

I agree with your post. I had a Speck case for my i5 and didn't like how bulky it made it...Otter Box would have been even worse. I'm pretty careful with mine, but I have dropped it a few times with no damage. I did invest in the Zagg Invsishield screen protector and love it. It's crazy durable but doesn't compromise the quality of the retina display at all.

I would go through flip phones about every 9 months to a year. Buttons would stick, screen would go out, it would randomly shut off, ect....

Bought an iphone 3G in 2009 and an otter box and have never had a problem. Everything still works as it did when it was new.

Still have it today. Best phone I've ever had.

I need help. Wife and I both have the iPhone 5. I can iMessage/text all me contacts and it works fine. I try to message her and she doesn't get it. I receive hers though. Any ideas?

Is she getting iMessage from anyone else?

First I would check that iMessage is turned in in settings. Then try the power cycle.

Additionally make sure that data is turned on as that is how iMessage works.

Obviously check in settings>messages & make sure everything is on. Do a hard reset on both devices & see if that helps (hold the lock button & home button until you see the apple logo then let go).

I will try. I'm out of town on business and trying to explain something to her about her cell phone is hard enough in person. Haha

Been having trouble with my iphone 4. Here lately when opening the Facebook app or Runkeeper app it will go from having plenty of service to saying there is no internet connection or no service at all. It does it at random times too. It does it in spots that normally have plenty of signal. My carrier is Verizon. Just wondering if it's something with the phone or something I am doing or if it's my service provider.

TIA

Have to agree. The 5C isn't really aimed at the US market anyway. It will probably be available but Apple has no problem selling brand new iPhones in the US as it is.

The article just bashed projected colors of a phone that hasn't been released. Being plastic theirs no telling how many colors they may have. Also like you said the cheaper version is gonna be mainly aimed at the Chinese & overseas market.

Oh I agree. I'm Apple all the way. But you gotta admit its mildly entertaining

Yea it was. Not very factual at all & they act like if apple puts out a certain color it won't sell. Anything Apple puts out will sell & it'll be followed by 6 plastic android phones before the next iPhone is released.

New iPhone coming & new os. Probably wont do either. Go VOLS!

Saw some of the notes on the new iphone 5S but not sure if there's enough to warrant an upgrade.
