Iran

So you think the real answer is that I'm cashing checks from The Kremlin? Possibly getting some kickbacks from Iran, also?
I have no idea what your motivation is as I’ve said. What’s clear is anytime there is a dispute between the Russians or the Persians and the US you ALWAYS prop up the Russians or the Persians. In fact you were getting noticeably upset the other evening as people were making fun of Putin and it was freaking hilarious. As to if you’re getting paid or not you should be for the amount of apologist water carrying you do you can provide us as references to attest to it!

Realistically, there is not a good answer to that. I think govt will always step in to control the media regardless. Coming up with a licensing system will not solve the problem because it will be the govt issuing the licenses. Passing some piece of legislation will not do it because the govt is the one enforcing the laws.

Not all licensing is done by the government. Sometimes it may be done because the profession sees the need for credibility, and it's possible that some professions create standards to prevent government from doing so. We've seen too many instances over the past few years to not recognize that the news outlets and reporters are far more dangerous than a weapon. One weapon can kill; one erroneous story can spawn a riot of thugs with weapons. You may have guessed I'm over the top with news and reporting; I have no respect for any of them, and don't at this point expect accurate reporting of facts from any.

I don’t think you do it by laws nor should it come from the government. The best solution is for consumers to not watch or read the products they put out if they are sensationalized. Viewers/readers equal advertising dollars. That’s how they make their money. If the media believes showing outrageous stories, whether biased to the left or right, will bring in the most viewers, that’s what they will do. If people stop consuming their product, they lose money. Getting in someone’s pockets is the quickest way to make them change, not by force or by laws.

I don't think the government should be developing and enforcing industry and professional standards. My problem is that the news is too important not to have ethical standards, and you are probably right that only a boycott of the news will bring the "profession" around to understanding if has become a farce.

Ok so now you want CNN and MSNBC to be over the licensing board...

None of your alternatives sounds very appealing.

Has anyone considered why Saudi Arabia has given America the middle finger? The Biden administration is on the way to making Iran a regional threat to every country.

The US is showing ourselves to be nothing but thieves and pirates.

US seizes Iranian oil cargo near Greek island

The United States has confiscated an Iranian oil cargo held on a Russian-operated ship near Greece and will send the cargo to the United States aboard another vessel, three sources familiar with the matter said.

They said the ship was impounded as part of EU sanctions on Russia for the invasion of Ukraine. However, the vessel was later released due to confusion about sanctions over its owners.

That didn't take long... The US needs to stop playing these silly azz games. Nobody is taking our BS anymore. We need to learn how to play better with others. Just silly... Oh, but I guess this is Iran's fault, right?

Iran Seizes 2 Greek Tankers In Gulf As Retaliation For US Taking Oil | ZeroHedge
Earlier in the day Tehran threated "punitive measures" after the United States seized a Russian flagged tanker transporting Iranian oil off Greece.

Iranian sources stated following the tanker seizure in the Mediterranean, "The Islamic Republic has decided to take punitive measures against Greece after it seized an Iranian tanker and let the US government confiscate its crude oil, Nour News, affiliated to Iran's Supreme National Security Council, reports."

Iran may try to Assassinate Trump, Pompeo or other ex-senior officials in revenge for drone strike that killed General Qassem Soleimani in Iraq in 2020, US intelligence report warns

  • Donald Trump, Mike Pompeo, and Gen. Kenneth McKenzie are 'priority targets'
A new intelligence report has warned that Iran may be plotting to assassinate top former US officials in revenge for the drone strike that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani two years ago.

The June 16 intelligence assessment from the National Counter Terrorism Center was issued just two days before President Joe Biden announced his current Middle East tour, according to Yahoo News.

Biden on Wednesday opened his first visit to the Mideast since taking office with a stop in Israel, where Iran's nuclear ambitions were expected to be the top item on the agenda.

According to the intelligence report, Iran has identified former President Donald Trump, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and other officials as 'priority targets' for their role in overseeing the January 2020 US drone strike that killed Soleimani as he visited Iraq.

Please, Pompeo, Bolton, Nikki Haley or anyone else but Trump.

Not sure how widespread they are, but there have been protests following the beating death of Mahsa Amini.
