Franchitti's fortunes finally took a hit, in a BIG way.

When did they get the race running yesterday? I don't think it had started yet by the time I left for work around 2:45...

he took Dixon with him, and he didn't gain any on Dario after his team got him back out for a few laps.

the race started at 5.

Ah, well he was lucky in that aspect, if one can be lucky flipping through the air like that.

im sure this is just a Jayski rumor but they say Franchitti and Childress are buddies and he could drive the 4th car for RCR next year... what do you guys think?

depends on if he wins the championship or not. Dario is getting old. i'd certainly expect to see him hang up his helmet before he goes to NASCAR.

And I don't know about putting the end of the race on a timer. If it's that close let then finish the scheduled distance. Obviously with the wreck it didn't matter anyway. Just saying.

they always have trouble finishing the race at Detroit for some reason. anyway, CART races are ran on a timer now and this isn't the first time an IRL race had to go on a timer. i hate it because i wanted to hear from the parties in the wreck and what TK had to say as well. if it was NASCAR they would ran into the news to milk every interview out of the finishers. i hate that.

i hate Dixon, so my bias says he took Dario out on purpose. that's ok though, because by Dario being able to get moving allowed him to go up 3 points on Dixon. did i mention i hate Dixon?

Timed races are pretty common. Adds a bit to the fuel calculation - how little can we get by with. My first reaction to the wreck was that Michael might have a point - looked like Dixon could have stopped it in the middle of the track - he definitely let it roll to the wall but hard to tell if it was a block or just a move to get out of the racing line. Good finish to a race with very little position changes.

Wow, Dixon runs out coming off turn 4 leading and Dario passes him to win the race and the championship. Simply unbelieavable

after this season, i rest my case for the IRL being the most excititng series in all of motorsports. what a finish. what a year.

I have to agree, I actually watched the end of the race and even caught myself yellin when Dixon ran out of gas
