The IRL races at Michigan were especially killer back before the rule changes in the IRL that made the passing harder... which, there's nothing wrong with that. Passing shouldn't be easy.

I actually wish NASCAR would go to the shorter races. Puts more premium on actually racing instead of waiting around until the last 100 miles like you always hear drivers doing.

But, 5 hour marathons equals more commercial revenue... so there's no chance of that ever happening.

Nope. The length of IRL races are just right IMO. I agree with tidwell, as I've stated on here numerous times. I think the majority of Cup races are entirely too long.

You mentioned the "cookie cutter" tracks. Well, a big part of what makes those races so boring is the length. You have a huge lull in the middle of those events where everybody is just riding instead of racing, saving their equipment till the end. Good strategy, but not very entertaining from a spectator's point of view.

i sometimes wish the IRL would add about 100 miles to their ovals.

for example, Sunday at Nashville i was just catching a buzz and the race ended, in about 2 hours. compare to a NASCAR race that lasts about 4.5 hours and i can barely tell you my name after it's over.

the 3 hour mark is perfect, anything over that and i'm falling off the plateau.

Dixon wins yet again... unfortunately for him, Franchitti finished second, again.

Dixon now 24 points behind Franchitti while the next closest driver is 111 behind.

Saw this on ThatsRacin and thought it was funny......"Since this is our off weekend and we talk Nascar every week, I thought i would throw something else out here that really erks me. Did anyone else see the IRL race and watch the Danica interview at the end. It was an embarrassment to any style of racing watching her rant on like she was top dog. She wines and complains all the time and she has done nothing to even prove being worthy of even being in the series she runs. If you cant win in the IRL series with only 17 cars staring each race then you shouldn't have a ride. The only reason she has a ride is cause she's a woman and the series needs her. Yeah she looks good in a bikini, but seriously, she hasn't done anything in the series but pout. Grow up and win a race and then maybe some of the racing fans around the world won't think your a complete ticket seller. Now I know there are a lot of female readers who follow the blog so please don't think I'm hating on ol' Danica cause she's a women. If it was anyone else, I wouldn't be hating on them cause they would have been fired by now. Holla back and everyone enjoy the week off." :eek:lol:

What will that ignorant, typical neckcarfan say when she wins a race?

That fool makes it sound like she's running around the back of every race when in reality she's only behind Dixon, Franchitti, Wheldon, Castroneves, Hornish, and Kanaan in the points and has outran them several times. Those six drivers are the most talented guys in the series and have been for quite some time. I'd love to hear that guy's thoughts on Marco Andretti's season.

Everytime you jump in a Busch thread and tell everyone how bad it sucks, and how you dont accept it as racing, everyone just overlooks you and goes on with the thread... I post one thing in a "non-nascar" thread, of which I didnt even write, nor did I say I agreed with, and you get all bent outta shape... Some points here are valid, some are not. 17 is wrong - it's more like 24 starting per week. The notion that if you can't win in the IRL you shouldn't have a ride is ridiculous and if applied to NASCAR, more than 1/2 the drivers would be gone. DP is talented but I agree she gets more coverage than she deserves based on record. She exhibits the typical racer personality - whiny and annoying when things aren't going her/there way.

much thanks to Comcast. i had noticed that we were missing a few channels in the Knoxville area. i hadn't noticed that one of them was ESPN Classic, the channel they had to switch the race over to.

you have to be kidding me. you have to be. i'm livid right now. especially because i slept in and missed the F1 race thinking i could still get my fixed today with the IRL and NASCAR. a complete joke.

ESPN is a complete joke, so is Comcast, they're the worst orginization ever. Trying to get to talk to them is like getting your teeth pulled.
