Hey, I'm as excited as anyone by what CBJ is doing, but let's hold up a sec.

The second-coming of General Neyland? No.
The next great UT football coach? Too soon to tell, but he's off to a rousing start.
Vol football is once again in good hands.

Didn't read that...we get schooled by Vandy and we hire Butch...meanwhile back at the Hall of Justice...General Neyland was hired at a time when Vandy was a superior program...that and a physical resemblance were the only parallels brought up by the op

Actually reading the OP prevents the pitchforks from coming out.

I never realized that the two kind of resemble one another in looks before. Neat.

If he's the second coming of Neyland, does that mean he will coach here some seasons and spend other seasons off pursuing his second career?

General Neyland was hired primarily to come in and beat Vandybilt. After getting dogged by Vandybilt, Butch Jones was hired......

History repeats itself.

J/K in a way but really, Butch Jones looks very similar to General Neyland. The two men just really do resemble on another...

Butch Jones will have a similar record percentage wise to the General after it's all said and done!!

I sure hope that Coach Jones does not get activated by the Army to go to North Korea!! You know that the General was activated three times.....

My favorite thing about that was that he would leave for a while and come back with a better rank. So he didn't start out as General Neyland. That's just where he ended up by the time he was done coaching... which is an awesome accomplishment if you stop to think about it. :hi:

Look, I'm excited about the direction CBJ has us going, but let's get through a season or two before we start building statues and naming the stdium after him.

If Jones loses two games or less in his first seven seasons as head coach, we'll talk.

Look Butch seems to be on the right track to winning some football games and turning us around but Come On Man you can't be comparing him to Neyland. SMH.. That is just HORRIBLE!!!

Whats horrible about it? He didnt say he would do it and they do look eerie similar.

Now that you mention it, he really does look like a young Neyland....I'm totally optimistic also....

I don't know about comparing him to Neyland. Honestly, I just want him to start beating Alabama and UF regularly. That is all I ask.

I hope he comes in and beats bama like Neyland did vandy

Beating Vandys not too impressive. Hell, even Dools was 2-1. However, Neyland never lost to Bear Bryant. If our Young and Heroic Butch can similarly whip the Vertically Challenged One's arse in a similar fashion? .... then we got somethin'

Please show more respect for Neyland. Butch could win lots of games, but the General deserves better than to be compared to a coach who has never had to build or rebuild a program.

It seems to me, you have zero idea who "The General" was........

I am slowly becoming a CBJ fan, I like what he is doing, but it will take a season of being undefeated and unscored upon before you can call hin the second coming of Neyland. CBJ has not won his first game as a Vol yet, and the only time he coached (as a head coach) in NEYLAND stadium...He LOST

I would hope, he is as good as Doug Dickey when he was here..or even Majors or Fulmer...but he has a long way to go to reach the level of those three and he has to reach their level long before the General
