Is Butch Jones General Neyland part 2?

General Neyland was hired primarily to come in and beat Vandybilt. After getting dogged by Vandybilt, Butch Jones was hired......

History repeats itself.

J/K in a way but really, Butch Jones looks very similar to General Neyland. The two men just really do resemble on another...

Butch Jones will have a similar record percentage wise to the General after it's all said and done!!

I hope that Butch can beat Gorgia, Flarida, and Alabyma.

If I could like this 1,000,000 times I would!

OP, Whisky Tango Foxtrot are you talking about?!

UT is now hiring coaches to compete and beat Vandy?

No wonder you people are obsessed with Franklin. Way to shoot for the floor!

Didn't read that...we get schooled by Vandy and we hire Butch...meanwhile back at the Hall of Justice...General Neyland was hired at a time when Vandy was a superior program...that and a physical resemblance were the only parallels brought up by the opPosted via VolNation Mobile

You might want to read the last sentence of the OP again.

From wikipedia:

Sports Illustrated named Neyland as the defensive coordinator of its all-century college football team in its "Best of the 20th Century" edition.[3] 112 of his victories came via shutout. In 1938 and 1939, Neyland's Vols set NCAA records when they shut out 17 straight opponents for 71 consecutive shutout quarters. His '39 squad is the last NCAA team in history to hold every regular season opponent scoreless.

That is insane and will never be touched.

As far as comparing the coaches, we are seriously comparing a guy that went 12-9 in the big least and only two ten win seasons in his entire career? What drug exactly is he on? It has to be one with hallucinations that go along with it.

Butch snags a few four and five star recruits and we're ready to anoint him as the 2nd coming of General Neyland. This is what you call a desperate fanbase...

Hows about we reserve judgement until after he wins a few games and manages to keep those recruits on board during the season...

Remain quiet on this board? Wait until a game is played?...Visionaries such as yourself should be helping Apple and Long John Silvers continue to dominate the world...leave us to our mediocre ramblings...you are way too important...I know self-inflicted twss

Even a blind dog can see the difference in attitude with This coaching staff when compared to the staffs over the last 10 years. While I am not yet ready to compare him to Neyland, I do believe he can/will field better teams than we have seen in the last ten years. The Football Program is on the rise despite those who are unwilling to see the light. It is amazing how positive people have more success than negative people.

Most mature post I've found in this fun-filled thread.

It's all fun until the leg-lashers show up, all serious and airythang...

Neyland is widely regarded as the best defensive mind in the HISTORY of college football. He was named the defensive coach of the ALL CENTURY TEAM. Some of his peers considered him the best all around college coach of ALL TIME. IIRC Knute Rocne (sp.) was one of those who felt that way. Other than that, perhaps you're on to something.?.?.?

Knute Rockne. Just type it in the search bar. Knute, and wa la.
