Is it ever Holly's Fault?

Actually, no. She was a sanctimonious, arrogant blowhard who couldn't post a message without invoking her Harvard degree, calling posters idiots and generalizing Tennessee residents as inbred. She left not because she was ridiculed back in return, but because everyone got sick of her aggressiveness. In the one instance of unity on the board, she was put on ignore and had no one to fight with, so she took her ball and went home.

Not to mention her sudden deafening silence happened to coincide with the point the season began to unravel. How is that condescending blind devotion to Holly working out....?

Who cares? I mean honestly, this is getting ridiculous. It's women's basketball.....who cares? It reminds me of the jrotc programs or band programs in high school. They go off and compete, win a championship or competition, and the school is happy during the celebratory pep rally. After the pep rally, no one cares. And, if they lose, it doesn't matter. Pat summit days of glory are over, dominance has been UCONNS for 15 years. It happens. For those of you that care about the lady vols, and I mean REALLY REALLY care, I hope this doesn't offend you, but please get over it. It's not that important anymore. GBO!!!

Why are you here if it doesn't matter?

Don't try to assume what others do or don't cherish. The Lady Vol program is extremely important to a huge nation of LV fans and supporters. If you've been fortunate enough to travel the far reaches of this great country, you'd understand the importance of the LV brand and its popularity. I lived in Manhattan for years and have visited every major city in America (and several abroad), and the recognition level for all things Big Orange is astounding ... but there is special consideration for two Tennessee legends in particular: Pat Head Summitt and Peyton Williams Manning. Both mean the world to Vol Nation.

The Lady Vols will rise again! And btw, UConn has not dominated for 15 years. Pat won two championships back-to-back in 2007-2008! And can you imagine, Pat's teams beat Geno's charges the last three times they played in 2005, 2006 and 2007 ... and two of those games were in Hartford, CT.

Your post sums up exactly how I feel about men's sports - I don't care. But then I don't go on to men's sports boards and tell their fans that they shouldn't care. The fact that you come over here and tell the fans of women's sports that they shouldn't care means two things: one that you actually do care - you cared enough to come and read and post, and two it means that you're scared of women. Please try and get over your fear. You're not that important to women and their fans.

The nerve of him the only UT men's sport that get recognition is football and if the guys make the ncaa tourney in basketball then it was a good season... The last time Tennessee men won an actual national title was 2002 and that was in track... However in regards to the women Tennessee has national prominence in just about everything each sport has come close to a title even volleyball 05 final four hell the dance team has 4 national titles and women's softball is always in the WCWS talks the men ehhhh not so much

I see…..so she was ganged up on and put on ignore which effectively eliminated her dissenting opinion. What happened to mtsuraider06? The same thing?

That usually happens when you call people idiots. Do you expect a welcome mat at that point?

I don't know hat happened to Raider. He was generally well liked. Probably sees there's not much to say until there's more recruiting updates.

Her opinion wasn't the problem, as a large percentage of fans here were still very supportive of Holly at that time. Even they couldn't stand her, that should tell you something....

The UConn women's basketball team is 99-1 in its last 100 games. IIRC but dont say they havent dominated at least this decade

Gosh, that criteria would cause a lot of posters here to be put on ignore….. I expect it was more than just that but if that's the story….so be it.

You're conveniently leaving out the part about her repeatedly calling people idiots. I've mentioned that twice already (3 times now).

I got it the first time. Just decided to reduce the quote a little bit. No offense intended besides there is a lot of inference that occurs here notwithstanding a bit of name calling when people disagree.

I would think it's a little difficult to be heard when the "ignore protocol" is enacted.

And the difference between calling someone an idiot, a sanctimonious arrogant blowhard, and a bootlicker is what….an opinion that one does not agree with (emphatically)?

Others have already responded to you but I will take the bait.

Again what is your point-- that women's basketball does not matter or the LVs don't matter because the glory days are over. If the latter, then shouldn't fans return to relevance? And you state that no one cares but then apologize for offending those that DO care?

I hope you are sixteen, an age where it is hard to see past one's own interests and to imagine that others can care and enjoy things you don't. If not, really try to expand your perspective a bit. Most Americans could not give a whit about say soccer but in other countries people live and die by their national team and favorite club. And to a Brazilian soccer fan, US college football is completely irrelevant. You see different strokes for different folks. Do you feel a need to lecture the nation of Brazil on why they should not care about soccer and instead follow UT football? [good luck with that...]

But in the grand scheme of things, what sport really matters? The mighty football vols won their Bowl game; has your life changed? did it bring about the 2nd coming? have major social problems been resolved/ is there now a cure for cancer? All sports are entertainment and an opportunity to create communities of shared interest. But there is nothing inherently important about one team or one sport.

No one came right off the bat and attacked Ivy the way she made personal attacks on other posters right from the get go.

Like I said, when someone comes right out and calls people idiots, losers, etc..., how else would you describe them...besides "an intelligent, sensitive soul".

She reaped what she sowed. Perhaps your inclination is to offer people bed and breakfast when they call you an idiot, but I can't blame a single soul on this board for hitting "ignore" after more than 2 interactions with Ivy.

I, for one, miss Ivyleague !!
If everyone's opinion on this board marched in lockstep, it would extremely boring. Though I didn't agree with Ivy's continual personal attacks on posters she disagreed with, I found her steadfast devotion to the coaching staff refreshing (Though, I didn't agree with her there either).
As far as I know, she voluntarily decided to stop posting. I can only speculate on the reason. My guess would be that, with the season progressing as it has, she didn't want to have to respond to a multitude of "I told you so" posts by her critics.

I love basketball period but have a particular love for women's basketball. I feel sorry for "real" men who feel that they have the right to denounce any sport. These are usually people who still think the woman's place is in the home, pregnant and shoeless. Well things have changed, women don't put up with that crap any more. No, women can't do a 360 shake the rim dunk but they can play the game. That is the major problem with women's sports in the United States we have too many male sexist with egos the size of New York, who think women's sports are awful. If these "real" men took a chance, and left their jerkiness at home, they would see that women can put a good competitive product on the floor.

Since 2000 UCONN has 9 NC, LV has 2. I think that's considered dominance.

Maybe if you would make your way back to the boneyard you could find someone who cares about Uconn

Are you kidding, uCONN fans are lovinggggg our board right now!!! They're dragging literally almost EVERY comment back to their board and basking in our negativity! I can't stand their asses!

No doubt UConn has been dominate this decade, but the original poster said the past 15 years. Pat had a wonderful run with Candace & Company, with two titles. And Pat's teams did beat Geno's the last three times they faced each other.
