Is it time to drop the extra federal unemployment money?

When what you describe is instituted, 1 of 2 things end up happening:

1. the owner/manager running the "tip share" program borrows or steals from the pool. "Hey guys we have to fix the beer cooler this month. I'm sorry, I have record of it and I will get that money back to you" (never does)

Its based off of ticket sales for the day. All of the servers have an account of what they sold that day. I never, ever heard of any servers not getting their tip share. And besides that, did you read what I said. Anything over the specified percentage, the server doesn't have to report.

or 2. The same good servers get screwed day after day to lift up the bad or lazy servers. Nothing like going to work every day busting your butt for someone else's tips. Often times, in my experience, the bad/lazy server is family or friends with the owner, which makes the environment toxic.
Again, you didn't read what I posted nor do you understand how tip share works. If anything, the lazy servers will be the ones paying out of pocket at the end of the shift.

Was in Destin area last week. Went to a Panera's that had the indoor dining area closed and all orders had to be made by a single kiosk (no order takers/money takers).

Why? Can't find employees. Prior to the pandemic they had no problem staffing the place.

When these states "reject" the extra federal unemployment money what happens to the funds? Does anyone know? Do they give back the money or does the state still keep the funds just not give it to unemployed peoples?

I've yet to see real details on this
That's a good question. I guess it goes into whatever black hole money normally goes into when the states dont spend fed funds.

I’d guess it goes to housing illegals in hotels to empty the detention facilities. The dementia patient is struggling to find enough money to execute the cover up of that massive cock up

My understanding is that the states were responsible for dealing out the extra fed money. But beyond that I dont know how it works. Is it a reimbursable? Did they get one massive check for UE and now have a slush fund? Are they somehow accessing a federal slush fund to pull money thru to its citizens?

Doesnt really help the fiscal nature of the issue if the states just gave themselves a slush fund by stopping extra UE payments after they got a big check. It could just be creating another way of government waste and pork by redirecting fed funds for the people towards their own special interests.

Worthy question.

I’d guess it’s already gone and won’t go back to the general Fed fund. First rule of government spending/contracting is you never give money back you always spend a little more than you’re given.

I thought I saw one state was using it differently - to serve as a sort of hiring bonus (eg. if you found a job and stayed for x months you got something like $1200). Makes more sense to incentivize work rather than incentivize staying home.

I would prefer no incentives. But if you must encourage behavior, better to encourage employment.

With wages rising and inflation, the tax collections for the second half of Biden's term should be record-setting.

So will the spending

to anyone serving or considering being a server, if the company operates like this or wants to operate like this, leave and find a new place.

A server's tips should always be a server's tips, period. And when ownership butts in to take it and distribute it, for whatever reason, fraud usually happens.

you earn what you earn. It should be that simple
I know this post is a week old, but its interesting to me that you don't agree with redistributing a hard working servers wealth, but you and the party that you vote are interested in doing the same to me. Pretty ironic.
