Is Mike Hamilton the greatest AD of all time?

The situation is this. Either we can't hire a big time coach or we refuse to hire a big time coach. You take your pick.
What do you mean by big time coach? If you mean coach with a national title, the no one can do that without being pretty fortunate.

It's amazing that Bama hired Franchione, Price, and Shula considering Mal Moore refused to take no for an answer and was willing to spend the big bucks.

Let's just say that I don't consider Martin nor Dooley a big time coach. If you do, we have a definition problem in our discussion.

I don't consider Price, Franchione, Shula, or Grant to be huge names, either. Kiffin and Pearl were probably bigger names than any of those guys.

You really want to compare the pre Alabama careers of Franchione and Price with pre Tennessee Dooley?

Dooley was like Shula. Didn't make the hire in the best of situations. I wouldn't have a problem comparing Kiffin to those two.

I'm not exactly a huge Hamilton fan, either. I just find it funny that people think Mal Moore is a good athletic director.

I never consider Kif a big time hire. Good assistant experience at USC, no college experience at head coach, NFL Head coaching experience at the laughable Oakland. To top it off, the idiot who hires him at Oakland warns everyone what a butt hole he is. I will say, I was relieved to see his Dad coming with him. Then I saw that he didn't have a clue how to stop non pro offenses. Shula pretty much equals Kiffen to me, except he was a Bama guy, and Kif was a USC guy.

Kiffin is the head coach of the Trojans and Shula may never be a head coach again. The two aren't the same at all.

I don't know if he's the best AD of all time, but I'd certainly put him in the top 2 that the Vols have had since 2003.
