Is Nick Saban Done?

On a side note, Bama fans seem to think they are getting Pruitt back as DC and are suddenly going to be fixed… what a minute, don’t we still have an NCAA investigation because of his stupid a$$? How could he possibly be allowed to go back and coach right now in the SEC unless the investigation is just garbage that nobody will take seriously? Quite the conundrum

I kind of feel sorry for Bama players and assistant coaches in practice this week. And for Ole Miss. If Bama's season is trluy shot, then then UM will sneak one out. If Saban gets his way in practice this week, they will blow Ole Miss out.

I, for one, think a large part of Saban's success has been his ability to be a CEO and delegate an assistant or coordiantor role to the fullest. He keeps it close to his vest. Only he and that assistant know who has a job next year with him.
Feel sorry for Bama? I hope your ****ing tongue falls out.

Next thing you'll say is that you are sorry for Uncle Lou when WWTA next year (or in the natty)

Ok, I am just playing along. Guessing from memory.

Bear Bryant - quit because Johnny smoked him and was set-up to smoke him for many future years.
Gene Stallings - I can't remember. He may have gone out on his own terms
Les Miles - terminated
Gene Chizick - terminated
Ed Orgeron - terminated
Phil Fulmer - terminated
Urban Meyer - wanted to get away from jort wearing people. pretended to have a health issue.
Woody Hayes - after punching clemson kid, was told to retire or be fired.

Pretty much matches my memory as well.

Stallings is the only questionable one. I know he won a natty on the field and then they got pretty well eviscerated by sanctions very soon afterwards.

Just don't remember if he left or they fired him first

Edit-I looked it up and he "resigned" after the sanctions. Clear as mud.

Which of these coaches won a Natty and went out on their own terms (not fired):
Bear Bryant
Gene Stallings
Les Miles
Gene Chizick
Ed Orgeron
Phil Fulmer
Urban Meyer
Woody Hayes

After you answer, remember: You can't win today's games on yesterday's home runs. Saban has earned the right to go out on his own terms if anyone has. But even for the best, the long knives can come out when production slows down. If Bama doesn't get to the SECCG next season, I think the fan base will amplify some of the angst being shown now for this current Bama team.

My recollection: Bear Bryant did go out on his own terms. Everyone else fired (expect maybe Urban, and he faked heart problems to keep from getting fired). Stallings "stepped down" but he had a (figuratively) gun to his head and was given the ultimatum by the powers that be in Tuscaloosa (Paul Bryant jr?).
Hard to stay on top, and I'd say Saban may not be immune to this pressure totally. Time will tell.

That sounds like a good plan for Nick.

However, Father Time is one incredibly mean SOB. Once the brain starts misfiring, which is happening to him, then you don't just improve back uphill from that point. But, working crossword puzzles in the off season can somewhat slow his mental regression.
He has been looking lost on the sidelines.

*edit*I'm not even saying this as a joke.

Dabo - 70%
Gundy - 20%
Smart - 40%
Day - 50%
Franklin - 30%
Helton - 10%
Kiffin - 20%

It’s Dabo’s job to lose
Smart, Day and Franklin are not going to Bama. Gundy would get eaten alive (recruiting would be his downfall).

I agree Dabo is most likely, although the shine is off a bit. Kiffin has the chutzpah to take it on, but might wish he didn't after a few years.

Does Saban have another elite QB for next year?? That could be a big factor. I don’t follow recruiting that much but I think Bama is projected to have the top rated recruiting class. A lot of people in high level positions just don’t want to let go of the power or limelight, or to full of themselves, etc..

I think Alabama goes 9-3 and Nick Saban tells his team and the Sports Media that he's going to retire following Alabama's Bowl Game in the ReliaQuest Bowl,Citrus Bowl or Taxslayer Gator Bowl. ESPN will make a huge production out of Nick Saban's coming retirement and so will CBS. I think Alabama will name their new head football coach in December and i think Nick Saban's successor could be one of these 10+1 head coaches and assistants.

Lane Kiffin Ole Miss
Ryan Day Ohio State
Dabo Swinney Clemson
James Franklin Penn State
Kirby Smart Georgia
Todd Monken Georgia OC
Mike Gundy Oklahoma State
Lance Leipold Kansas
Kevin Wilson Ohio State OC
Freddie Kitchens Senior Analyst South Carolina
Clay Helton Georgia Southern
Don't see Smart leaving UGA for any other program. Just too many advantages for him there. I think the 3 on that list that would intrigue me would be Day, Kiffin(although I don't see them going that way), and the dark horse would be Leipold. Day has it pretty cushy at OSU. He's literally got one big game in the regular season and is pretty much always in the playoffs. Would he leave that to jump into the these bloody SEC waters? I doubt it. This might be a harder job to fill than bama fans would think. It's a big ask for anyone to replace Saban. Kiffin and Leiopold seem like they might be the most likely.

Kirby is UGA alum. I think he's found a home.

Saban is at a point where he's lost 2 games by 4 total points and the sky is falling.I think Saban is ok.

like someone has mentioned on here before, he's also about the same amount of points from having 4 losses this year....
