Is Nick Saban Done?

After watching his post game presser, he genuinely looks wore down.

Two losses at the last minute has to be painful to watch.
Are you f'n nuts?

Nick Saban has lost 10 SEC games in the last decade, including this year. He's 107-18 at Alabama vs the SEC overall.

Does that look like the record of a coach who is done?

Alabama is slipping and they've looked beatable the past two seasons. This looks like Bear Bryant's last three years at Alabama 1980-1982.

As I've said before, Bear was a drunk and it caught up with him as a coach and as a human. He declined because he was dying.

Saban isn't a drunk and remains committed, apparently, to coaching. Saban is getting squeezed by NIL making the playing field closer to level and by a questionable OC and marginal DC.

I've heard "Alabama looks beatable this year" every year since 2010 at least. That's just Saban living rent free in our heads.

Especially this year, Saban is a non factor for the Vols. We beat him. Our concerns are GA, tOSU, MI, TCU and Oregon. Stop looking at what's behind us this year.

The Tide were 2 plays away from being 9-0, but also another 2 plays away from being 5-4. This ‘Bama team just hasn’t been as dominant as in years past, and they still are stacked with talent. Something does just seem “off” with them.

He's clearly very frustrated. It's going to be interesting to find out if he views the problem the same way as the fans, namely that his coaching staff sucks right now.
Who do you think would be on their short list when he finally does call it a day?

I don’t think it’s a given that he would go, and if he has another down year or two before then, I’m not sure the fan base wouldn’t revolt.

Bama strikes me as the type of program who’ll hire a coach that’s been associated with their program at some point.

I’ll be shocked if Dabo turns it down if offered.

Dabo would be 1st. Outside of that, it really depends on what happens on the field between now and then.
Ok so here is a legit question, Do you really see a top coach coming to Alabama after Saban?...Because a lot of them would not want the pressure of having to try and continue what he has accomplished and you know how rabid fans can be...That job if not successful could be career suicide.

Yes. Just like following the Bear.

If they were smart, we would run in Mike Shula for a couple of years. Then, Dabo can follow him.

Luckily, they are silly gumps

It's a good question. I honestly don't know. Yes, the pressure would be massive. But you'd have all of the resources to be successful, including a very strong roster.

I think back to when we fired Fulmer and so many coaches wanted the UT job and yet Hamilton burned so many bridges that when Kiffin left for USC after a year nobody wanted the job....Except Doofus

Part of why no one wanted the gig was because of how late Kiffin bolted. No one wants to take over a program in early Feb.

I have no idea when he will leave or who might be the next guy, but I can't wait to see it. Not because I want Saban gone. I have mad respect for the guy, but when he leaves, Bama fans think all that has to happen is for them to offer exactly who they want and that coach is going to come running to Tuscaloosa. I don't know if that will happen. The first coach that says no is going to create a meltdown of epic proportions.

We will enjoy it immensely.

Ideally, we would like to have bammer name Bill O'Brien as the coach in waiting.

With his special communication skills, Bill could run the USS Gerald R Ford aground onto Gilligan's Island.

The problem for any new coach is that success there will be defined as winning the national title, nothing less than that.

Once Saban retires, if the new guy doesn't deliver a national title within a couple of years, he'll be run out of town on a rail (unless he made it to the title game both years and lost or something).

Bill O'Brien did a good job of saving the Penn State program after the Joe Paterno-Jerry Sandusky situation
