Dabo better fix Clemsons issues fast if he still wants the job.
True.. it’s going to be interesting to see how this all shakes out.. thank goodness it isn’t us in some respects.. aging GOAT coach lol.. what do you do? 😂 you can’t just chuck him over to the side, but Bama fans have such high expectations that are just not going to be met in perpetuity lol

I think he’ll be around the program in some capacity for a while after he’s done. At minimum he’ll be a “special advisor” for picking the next coach.

If Bama was smart they would go ahead and get his replacement on staff and have a phase out strategy.

Given saban a couple years to to tutor the guy and get Sabans finger prints on things one last time, then have him bow out.

That would be the perfect way to do it.

I hope so because that is a recipe for disaster.

Where has the coach in waiting model worked well?
OK Stoops to Riley, FSU Bowden to Jimbo, oSU with Meyer to Day. *Oregon had a string of OCs getting the job that worked out with Kelly and Hefreich (sp). **wasnt Dabo on staff at Clemson, not sure if that counts as a Coach in waiting situation.

I dont know of a whole lot of these planned step downs with planned successor already on staff. I am sure there are failures, but seems like it can maintain.

Dabo better embrace NIL and the Portal, otherwise he's about to get left in the dust so fast it'll make his head spin. That's a longer term issue for him. He's already gone on record publicly multiple times about how he hates those things and thinks they are bad for college football, which is just an idiotic thing to say publicly even if you feel that way. Remember, if he followed his own proclamation about players getting paid, then he would have quit before last season started, because he said that if guys got paid he'd quit coaching college football. He is one of the most FOS coaches out there right now.

His "issues" this year and last (in quotes because he's gone 18-4) are simply because he had superhuman QBs with Watson and Lawrence and he has a human QB with DJU. Not only is DJU not even close to the same stratosphere as Watson/Lawrence, but he doesn't have the weapons those guys did either.

I don't want Leipold in Tuscaloosa.
That man can coach.

Sure he has never recruited at an elite level, but I think he is special enough to figure it out.

I don't want him anywhere near the SEC, unless he came to Knoxville sometime in the future.
I think he is the real deal.

Saban has lost 2 games by a total of 5 points. Yeah he is really done 😂😂😂😂😂
He could be done if Alabama is 9-3 going to the ReliaQuest Bowl or Taxslayer Gator Bowl. I think if Alabama finishes 9-3 in the regular season that Nick Saban will be retiring.

college football is a different world now with NIL and the transfer portal... Saban is behind now since everyone can now legally pay players
I don't see how he's behind for that reason. Several of his players have signed huge NIL deals, Bryce Young chief among them. And he's been pretty active in playing the portal.

If Saban is behind in any capacity, it's because his staff isn't all that great. I've never been super impressed with Golding since he got there, and this year might be the year he finally makes that change. I was a little surprised Saban didn't just cut him loose after that DUI, because it isn't like he was great to begin with.

The College Sports Madness Bowl Prediction for Alabama is a trip to the Citrus Bowl to play Illinois.

Saban just signed a 93 million dollar contract extension through 2030. He isn't retiring. IF they were to get to the point to think about firing him and paying that 93 million, Saban will go to the bathroom while he is being escorted out and take every roll of toilet paper they have.
