I don't understand how it is so hard for some to not get it.

We pay Bruce $2.5 Mil. He is the only coach in that price range to not make the FF much less past the Sweet 16.

He makes more than Coach K, Jim Boeheim and others.

If you pay him that much you raise the stakes or the expectations and pay him elite money.

Therefore it is reasonable to expect elite results in March, not just fan attendance.

I understand that, as before I have said that I dont care what Pearl makes. Whatever Pearl makes is relative to how much money he generates for the school, so that is Hammy's business. And Hammy's a bean counter so I dont worry about it.

But my question was one of embarrassment. Are you embarrassed to be a UT basketball fan right now due to Pearl's salary?

He is also the only coach in that price range to literally pay for his entire salary by the attendance boost he has brought to TBA. Just saying.


The University is making money off of Bruce.

So pay is not relative to success either?

I don't "care" what he makes. The point is if you pay him more than coaches with multiple FF trips and national titles you are saying he is on that level and therefore should have similar post-season results.

Who has said the are embarrassed?

If that's the case why did Fulmer get a raise for winning 8 games and why does Pearl have achievement bonuses but not attendance bonuses?

Your right, pay is relative to success and that means post season success in basketball. But it's also relative to putting people in seats at TBA. I don't agree with his salary either, but I can see why Hammy pays him so much.

There's really no point in you arguing with people about this. You obviously have a different agenda as a fan than others. We want wins, and you just want the university to make money. Do you work in the athletics office or something?

Given the situation at UT I can understand that.

At some point though, and it's not to that point yet, the post-season results will have to match the salary as well.

I am a fan, not an investor. I have never received a dime from UT but have paid them for an education, merchandise and tickets not to mention time invested.

The amount the athletic dept. makes has no impact on my happiness or satisfaction, results however do.

If I made more money as UT made more money that would be a different story.
