Is UT or Florida the 2nd Best SEC Program?

you'd think fsu and florida playing each other for the national title in the past would be proof that they could both be good at the same time.

perhaps florida, fsu and miami being 3 of the 4 schools with more than 300 wins since 1980 might also point that out.

That was due to great coaching, not in-state talent.

Miami's last national title was the by-product of Larry Coker being the best CFB coach on the planet.

I bet Nick Saban considers himself lucky. He doesn't have to match wits with the great Larry Coker.

Explain to me why a Heisman matters?

It is a trophy given to a player without any sort of defined criteria, voted on by past recipients and certain members of the media.

It is heavily influenced by lobbying from teams, exposure and pressure by the media, and has no definitive criteria.

The Heisman has some historical significance, but the past 20 years has proven (at least to me) that it might be one step above a Nickelodean Kid's choice award.

Names like Gino Toretta, Rashad Salaam, Chris Weinke just confirmed your point.

To be fair, the only questionable title claim is 1967, but there are justifications if you want me to tell you.

However, UT doesn't claim 1939, a year where they went undefeated, untied and unscored upon in the regular season. How does that team not win the NC?!!!! So UT's 6 is about right.

Ask Texas A&M they won it.

(But clearly they don't claim it because no one awarded then for it)

Gaining momentum? :eek:lol:

UF increases its win total from 7 to 11, goes into Tallahassee and beats pre-season national title contender FSU and their 11 NFL draft picks, scoring 24 unanswered points in the 4th quarter.

Miami can't draw flies to home games and hasn't won its division title, let alone the ACC title, since leaving the Big East.

Yet FSU and Miami are "gaining momentum" on UF.

Alrighty then.

Um, Miami has 2 of the top 5 FL HS recruits (2014). FSU has 3 of the top 15. UF has 1 of the top 15. But hey, you're the "mighty" gators. FSU and Miami tremble at the sound of "2 Bits."

And all that means exactly what in terms of on field performance lately?

FSU had the inside track to a national title, with 11 NFL draft picks and a pathetic schedule, and couldn't find a way to beat NC State...let alone UF.

Miami is the poster child for ACC mediocrity, yet I'm supposed to fear them?

It's not 1987 anymore.

some schools aspire to merely tremble.

beats curling up in a fetal position and quitting.

You forgot to add: Florida got smoked in the Sugar Bowl by a Big East team.

And you conveniently forgot to answer my question.

Meanwhile, the SEC's #2 all-time football program got smoked by Vanderbilt and missed out on a bowl game for the second straight year.

Tim Tebow is in the conversation of greatest college football players of all time, and his failings in the NFL will never, ever change that.

Keep it clean bamawriter, gator fans get Tebow-ners when you speak this way.

Lose to the almost the whole SEC or Lose to a big east team

Hmmmm...... Tough choice, both embarrassing.

If that is actually a "tough choice", you are rapidly sinking into the little brother status that plagues fanbases like Auburn and Mississippi State. You no longer focus on winning championships, you focus on your rivals and revel in any misfortune that befalls them, even if your team played no part.

Yeah, next thing you know we'll be destroying historic landmarks on their campuses...
