I'm still waiting on an answer why this is genocide. Haven't gotten that yet....Even the nit wits in here have openly said they hold Israel to a standard that’s different than the standard they have for Hamas. They think Israel is more responsible for the people of their enemies than the government those people elected. They throw out ignorance and accusations like “ethnic cleansing” complaining about Israel while ignoring their team who has been demanding it for decades. Hamas openly states it as its goal…..but sure, Israel is the problem.
That’s not gymnastics…..that’s willfully ignorant
May be. But there was an active cease fire in place on 06 Oct 2023. Please tell me which side BROKE said cease fire, REGARDLESS of any past history.You I'd be skeptical of. It's not false equivalency as much as you want it to be. The war didn't start in October 2023. The ongoing conflict is a continuation of micro and macro aggressions going back years.
Look up what the UN defines genocide as. It's not what we generally think of when we hear the term.
They're an ethnic group. They're not Jordanian, not Lebanese, not Egyptian, etc.; they're Palestinian. They're Christian and Muslim so yeah religion probably wouldn't apply.Definition
Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide
Article II
In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
- Killing members of the group;
- Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
- Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
- Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
- Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
Meets none of these. That aren't a nation so that aren't national, they aren't ethnically separated....generic Arabs, they aren't a specific race. They aren't being eliminated for their sect of Islam. Therefore they don't qualify for the 5 reasons.
Well there is no distinct group that can be genetically identified as “Palestinian” there’s never been a sovereign nation known as “ Palestine”. So there is no actual Palestinian people. If we’re calling the area Palestine. Then I , being a Hebrew, have more of a claim on the title than they do.And yet they're not Jordanians.
I disagree about a specific ethnic group. They are ethnically an arab/jewish melting pot. Can you be ethnically separate if you contain several ethnicities? I don't think so.They're an ethnic group. They're not Jordanian, not Lebanese, not Egyptian, etc.; they're Palestinian. They're Christian and Muslim so yeah religion probably wouldn't apply.
Actions 1, 2, and 3 look to apply. Let's see what the ICJ says.
