It Seems like a theme is emerging from these bowls.

Didn’t realize the QB was that important. Do you think other teams feel the same way about their QB?
I think they do. Despite the game being “won in the trenches” the qb is the most important player on the field. Been that way for a long time.

Everyone seems to agree that these bowls don't have much meaning due to players leaving for the NFL/portal, so how do they determine the final rankings ? Some schools use these rankings, and bowl wins to attract top players. And final rankings and bowl wins add to a coach's resume. Do they factor the number of players not playing for a bowl won or loss in determining how far a team drops or rises?

Big Ten teams seem very physical early in these games but they seem to gas out and can’t defend the perimeter very well.

yep… and Florida State without their starting QB and barely able to field a team with all the optouts… but all fans will see is the embarrassing beat down which is not indicative of what the game could have been.
maybe fsu players should have considered the consequences of their decision to opt out. Maybe it just means more on the SEC

You won’t get a disagreement here… it just makes for increasingly uncompetitive games and often lopsided results.

In Ohio St's defense, they were playing their 3rd string QB and MH Jr didn't play. If Ohio St had their starters not opting out or transfer, Ohio St beats the Brakes off Mizzou
I love seeing "The Ohio State" get mauled. I also didn't bat an eye at seeing Penn State getting demolished.. The Georgia-Florida State game never should have been played. I realize FSU has lost a lot of players, but they would not have had any chance of beating Georgia this year. The ACC is, by far, the weakest Power Five Conference and it has already shown it this week.

Man I hope so because Vols fans will run him out of Knoxville with the expectations now placed on him being a 5 star and amount of NIL money speculated to be given to him. Poor kid, that's a lot of pressure but I really hope so!
I think people will be more forgiving than you think. I’m one of the ones that screamed for Nico mid season. I’m also realistic and understand he’s a true freshmen. I expect a few plays to excite me given his athleticism and hype. I’m also expecting a few plays to make me throw the remote as he makes some true freshmen mistakes. All in all I’d rather start working those kinks out now than later.

I read this morning that FSU had 20 opt outs and are playing their true freshman 3rd string QB that was thrown into the fire due to the starter getting hurt late in the season...then their backup transferring after the season.
If Florida St players feel they got a kick in the groin by being left out of the play offs, why wouldn't this be a motivator for the players to stay and beat a good Georgia team to prove they deserved to be in the final 4 ? And why should Florida St players be sitting out at a higher rate than Georgia cause neither one playing for much more than a bowl win ?

If we’re trying to compare conferences then matchups are important. Look at the losses so far.

TAMU (7th in SEC) played Oklahoma St (#2 in Big 12) so I didn’t give them much of a shot. On a side note, with Auburn losing today that means TAMU didn’t beat a single team that finished with a winning record.

Kentucky (#8 in SEC) played Clemson (#6 in ACC) and it was a very even game. Of course Kentucky decided not to rush the QB on the last drive and gave the game away but still it was a close game between two teams that finished in the middle of their conference.

Auburn (#9 in SEC) played Maryland (#6 in Big 10) and looked horrible. I’m not in favor of cancelling bowls because they are good extra practice but it wasn’t a watchable game.

As for the wins, those matchups have featured #2 vs #3, #3 vs #4 and #1 vs #2 And with the exception of the Georgia vs TCU, opps, I mean FSU, they were fun to watch.

The upper level SEC teams do seem to be "all that". Missouri whipped Ohio St. and Ole Miss is punking Penn St. The lower level SEC teams are falling short. I would expect to see Georgia, Bama, (stop! I'm kicking myself while writing this} Ole Miss, Missouri, and LSU above the line. Below that line are a lot of teams in transition and Vandy. I am expecting that we join that group above the line. This is a big game.
...and incoming playoff TX + OK. UGA is so dang loaded and stacked that it's going to take an exponential talent w/ a good team around him to win VS UGA next season...probably Bama too. Our D has gotten better seemingly most every year, but if JH doesn't elevate his 2-deep D, we're never going to make it past 8-4/9-3 in the new expanded SEC....A 3 loss season in the future will be a pretty good year, just not elite.

Georgia has to play at Alabama, Texas, and Ole Miss next year. I see at least two losses there. And they’ve been pretty lucky avoiding major injuries which can affect anyone. Too many great coaches now with the divisions going away where they’ve had far too easy a road in the East with TN & FL being average or below at the same time.

It gets rougher for everyone now… especially if you see your great recruiting class have 14 players jump into the portal. The problem then becomes evaluating the classes a year or two down the road. Georgia has a great class this year, but do we see them lose half to the portal again next year. Depth can then become an issue once that starts happening.

But they didn't. Missou kicked the snot out of them, which, to be a bit mean, gives me a little kick to think about Herbstreet whimpering about the game.

I completely agree.

If he has a mediocre season...ugh, it will get ugly. The usual whiners will be out in force.CJH will take the brunt of it but Nico will not be spared.

Here's to hoping for a 10 win season amd maybe they will stay in their holes.
