I think I remember the 3-pt shot by the Vols that your talking about. I asked myself the same question when he called the timeout right afterwards. Im no expert by i'm pretty sure he called it because we were getting destroyed in the lane on defense and he wanted to try to defend the lane better so Xavier couldn't make another quick and easy basket. He also may have done it to sub a player in or out for defensive purposes.

I guess forget the fact he won a lot of big games while at UT doesn't matter. He won a lot more big games than he lost ones he shouldn't have especially his first three years. First ever #1 ranking in the history of UT basketball even though it was for a short time.

I just hope CCM can get them to the Big Dance especially with this group of players. There's no excuses this year.

Has Zo ever thought of implementing a 3/4 court trap and then drop back into a zone? I felt like this would've been very effective last night. Catch them off guard a little and switch back to man.

Face it, Martin flat-out sucks. I look forward to another sinking ship campaign as we crash and burn through the first half of our schedule. The Dunzo will finally be Gonzo at season's end when we fail to make the tournament three straight years.

There seems to NEVER BE ANY KIND OF STRATEGY with our Bball teams! They pass the ball back and forth up at the top of the key playing pattycake....then the shot clock dwindles down..and then we fire up a horrible shot. I agree with the "we are always on our heels" notion. We do not look like a coherent team half the time. Sloppy and bumbling!

Yes, we won't re-hire Pearl but Memphis or Georgia will and he'll be kicking our arses every year and taking his teams to the NCAA tournament and winning conference championships, but we'll feel good about ourselves because we didn't hire him back so there.

One thing we do not do very well is space the floor on offense. We allow teams to pack it in tight against us and force us to shoot. They are able to do this so easily because we generally have 3-4 guys within 12-15 feet of the basket at all times. Why not flash Maymon to the high post and allow Armani Moore , Richardson, etc to backdoor cut from the corner and get them going? No offensive strategy

I won't defend CM too much here because i'm still waiting for results on the court. Check out Donovan's first two years at UF. I don't know the history enough to compare UT and CM now to UF and BD then, but UF had a losing record in Donovan's first two seasons there.

no, we don't have any kids on the roster that are pure shooters and you can see that we went cold last night and tanked. It takes the entire first half for these kids to warm up and that is on the coach. It also seems they struggle to gain any self-confidence and swagger in the game and are easily beat down mentally. This is on the coach. I like the guy, but it will be interesting how this season plays out. I can guarantee you this loss will come back to haunt us.

Another big name to look at is Coach K. He had a worse record at Army than Martin had at Missouri State, a worse first two seasons at Duke than Martin has had. He turned out alright. Bet the Devil supporters are glad they didn't fire him.

It's not just wins and losses, how was his recruiting.....so far martins has been sub par.

How many more coaches had losing seasons with below avg recruiting that turned out to be bad coaches?
