It's 12:00 - We Have a New President

Not to the 24 hour cable news networks.
forget the networks. Real world - my cousin was robbed walking to church in DC. The idiots doing the robbing were unsuccessful in that they're thuggery couldn't overcome my cousin's hot cup of coffee and umbrella sword.

He ran away and some passersby who witnessed it stopped and picked him up. He shouted to the thugs to cut the garbage before the cops bust their asses. The response was "F you, Obama's pres. I can do what I want he he's gonna pay the bills."

Small example, but clearly a prevalent mindset out there.

Ehh, I think it does. Bush was such a polarizing figure, and people want change, not to mention someone who unites people. They see that in Obama. They've put all their eggs in the Obama basket, and hope it works out.

how was bush so polarizing? the media bashed him from day one. the media would never reconize him as a legit president even after 9/11.

the left bashed him day in and day and refused to work with him or acknowledge him in any way.

he asked congress 2x to support him to go to war, though the constitution doesn't require it and they voted for it 2x. Still, many people are saying we went to war illegally. he did not go to war illegally but the media portrayed it as he did.

the left was relentless in going after him. from day one they questioned him and his leadership ability and did their best to put doubt in peoples mind. they spent weeks covering every soldiers death. it was pathetic what the media did to him.

as for Hussein O, how is he going to unite America? by giving more welfare programs? forcing Americans to rely on the government for jobs? instead of fellow Americans? get real.

The man is more intelligent and more qualified than the man he is replacing. Thats gives him a leg up from the jump. The majority has spoken, live with it. The country is left of center and the conservatives are dying out. Get ready for it because conservatives wont be in charge for years and years. America is a diverse place and the repubs alienate too many groups. The base is shrinking.

There are some whom the applause of the multitude has deluded into the belief that they are really statesmen.
-Plato

"Democracy dies to thunderous applause"
-Julius Ceaser

"Beware of foreign entanglements and alliances in Europe"
-George Washington

"Speak softly and carry a big stick"
-Theodore Roosevelt

all i believe that are somewhat relevent...

In the political forum, posting while sober is appreciated.

this comment alone invalidates anything else you might ever say on the subject. Obama is the least qualified candidate (candidate mind you, not winner) ever to run for the office of president, much less take the office.

The stupidity about conservatives dying out is just what I'd expect from a idealistic student who can't think his way from a paper sack. The diversity garbage just means you buy what the news feeds you. Get out and look around a bit.

Easily one of the most idiotic things said on this board.

One addition;

Oh, that lovely title, Ex President
-Ike

Sounds kinda like the story were the "Obama supporter" supposedly attacked the McCain supporter and carved the B on her face. Im not saying its BS, but it sure sounds like it.

you have no idea. I was at my aunt's house (his mother) when he called immediately following the incident.

Hussein o is just a empty suite.

how does republican alienate? that is such BS. it's the left who alienates, you libs are the ones who rely on government, race, and gender. it is the libs that need to have everyone placed in a box.

if our country was left of center, they has over 23 states band gay marriage, why does over 90% believe partial birth abortion is wrong and over 50% believe abortion in general is wrong. our country is not left of center, the problem was we did not have a true conservative running.

People thinking like you is why the republicans are losing more and more ground. Yall are like Bush. You see how things are but lie to yourself and ignore the facts so that everything fits what you believe. Its a fact there are more who agree with more liberal views and the conservatives are shrinking. The gap is widening. McCain lost in large part because of Palins ignorance and strict social-conservative views. What do alot of social-conservatives say. "Palin is great, she should be the face of the party" or "McCain wasnt conservative enough, thats why he lost". Ignoring the facts Palin cost them the election and being strict social-conservative will not appeal to the whole country and makes it hard to win a national election.

If not four the republicans will be in office in eight years. It is the way our system works. We become disillusioned with one party and turn to the other.

The pendulum has shifted no doubt and repubs took a hit. When many of those diverse groups see that a new party does not equal the answer to all their problems it will shift again, it is the way it works.

you really need to step back into reality. it wasn't palin that caused mccain's loss, it was mccain not being a conservative. Palin has 10x more experience the Hussein does. Hussein O has never worked on a budget, he voted present on bills in the senate.

the media spent 2 weeks destroying her but for 2 years they gave obama a pass every chance they did.

pull you head out of your butt boy and wake up.

I dont believe in gay marriage or partial birth abortions or gun control but all here would say Im a "liberal". But Im left of center. According to election results I would say more Americans agree with me than you conservatives. And abortion it may be 50/50 on if people think its wrong but I dont think a majority believes it shoud be illegal.

1. Republicans have a reputation of being the party of the old white country club types, who own major parts of major corporations. Is it true? No. There are poor republicans(believe me, South Knoxville's working class is about 70% republican), and rich Dems. But, your party has a serious image problem, to say the least.

2. Correct you are. Which shows that conservatism is still alive and well in the United States. However, the country is starting to shift, not majorly, but a little smidgen towards the left.

3. I'm pro-choice. However, I think abortion is wrong, as a means of birth control. However, rape, incest, and other special cases are different. If you don't like abortions, don't do them. Government should stay in Washington, and out of a woman's vagina.

4. What do you wanna do? Dig up Reagan and clone him? Your problem is that the Republican party has been hijacked by the crazy ultra-right wackos, and not true conservatives.

You obviously have not been around long enough to see the changes in how people think over time as KB points out. You too yourself will change your perspective as your life chances. Hang on because it's going to be a bumpy ride.

BY your standards, Reagan was a crazy ultra-right wacko.

The repubs had little chance in this election because Bush was a fiscal disaster and had an ever growing unpopular war attached to him. Please tell me how either of those things reflect on conservative values? You have no clue, you are the one lying to yourself.

Bush was a disaster because he did not follow conservative principals and took a more liberal approach to spending. You are a very naive individual if you truly believe half of what you typed here. Or maybe you aren't doing this thinking all by yourself. It sounds very familiar to what you might find listening to Olbermann or Matthews.

please name some prominent right wing wackos in office today? lets compare that to the ultra-leftist in office? lets see. Pelosi, Reid, Hussein O, Waxman, Kennedy( but not for long) Boxer. this is just a few names of the ultr-socialist left that run this country.

now name some ultra-right wingers in office today?

the fact is it is the media who has lied about the republicans being all millionaires and right white people. it is sad that republicans are accused of being greedy just because they want to keep more of their money. but that is the way it is, we have keep fighting lies from the media.
