It's Done - Strong will be announced [unconfirmed]

Was talking with 2 guys here at work...one was a South Carolina fan the other a Florida fan(and no they didnt walk into a bar)....the South Carolina fan was like that would be a decent hire...but the Florida fan gave me a smirk and laughed then walked away....true story....oh well....most of the people I work with moved here from Jacksonville, Fl....so there are a lot of Gator fans...and since I am in SC, there are a lot of Gamecock fans sprinkled with a few Clemson fans and FSU fans....I get it from all sides being the only TN fan....Hell there are even 2 damn Michigan fans in here....geez...

Okay, sooooooo what does this mean?

When fans of st richt, or any other rival, applaud the candidate we know it is a bad one

Let's be honest here...when Dooley was hired by Hamilton, there stood Kevin Sumlin, who had a similar resume to what Strong's is today. I'm sure there would be just as many yahoos that would be against his being hired instead.

Frankly, I am amazed that Gary Patterson is not being mentioned in this coaching search. He wanted the job when Kiffin got hired, so why are we not pursuing him now?
And if it's because of a lack of SEC ties or southeastern recruiting, then how in the hell is Gundy now a finalist?

Getting back to Strong, though...get him a Kingsbury or a top-shelf OC, and this team could be scary good. Even if he kept Chaney, Pittman and Graham, this team should see a vast improvement next year, if Strong could talk Bray, Hunter and CP into coming back.

so your just going to ignore Butch's time a the U were he was a winner....

In my fantasy world we would Hire Gundy and then talk Davis into being the DC....that is a win/win....

It should be mentioned that recruiting at NC wasn't easy either. He didn't have the resources available to him to recruit (i.e., operating/recruiting budget, facilities, a fanbase that could be bothered to show up on Saturdays) that he had at Miami (though, the same could have been said for the crowds there too). I wouldn't say his talent was incredible at NC - a couple of nice players no doubt, but certainly not like the talent he got at Miami.

I'll take Butch. Any day after Gruden.

Fedora isn't doing too bad there.

This board is like that one friend that isn't really attractive, but he thinks he is, so he picks apart every girl, to the point where he convinces himself that he's too good for them.

Never satisfied.

So damn true.

Since a lot of you are asking - my stance on Gruden/Coaching Search in Gernal:

I do still think Gruden is possible. Way to much contradicting information out there. Inside the AD there is a lot of conflicting info - from people who should know either way.

I think Strong is a real possibility as well.

Honestly, I still believe it's Gruden - but I will wait to see who is officially announced instead of trying to react to all of the noise.

I'm hoping he's the mystery man that they are supposedly interviewing.

I think one by one the names on the list will say thanks but no thanks and remove their name from consideration and we will wind up with someone totally not in the mix at this time. We have been down this road before.

Yeah, it's amazing how many recruits you can get to sign when you give them a lil
cabbage.

Charlie Strong would do better with UT's resources. However, he is currently ranked 5th in the BIG EAST and 65th NATIONALLY!

This doesn't deserve a thread since it has been discussed a 100 times in the Strong thread. If people would just read.

My thoughts exactly - still trying to figure out how he's such a great recruiter. It sure doesn't show in his recruting results at Louisville.
