I dont want to get too deep into this, just this first paragraph.
Dooley was not "run out of town". He made crappy coaching decisions. I put it mildly because this is a family show, but it was much worse than that. I have several friends who coach in colleges across the country, and yes, even in the SEC. I got text and email messages from EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM after the Mizzery game and they almost all said the same thing, word for word: "WTF was Dooley thinking? That one will cost him his job. When he is fired, he can look back at those last 27 seconds and know that this is where he lost his job"
Dooley is a great guy. I dont think anyone would doubt that. But he made some terrible coaching moves, and at least one of them was inexcusable.
Please go back and re-read the thread, most especially my post indicating that (despite the fact that my names is mistakenly showing up in the quote tags) i want no part of the opinion that you've just attributed to me. I made a plea to be distanced from that opinion. I actually challenged the poster of that opinion, and indicated that it's not healthy for the university.
I'm not carrying an aggressive MO, either, by the way.
Thanks.
:hi:
I understand what you say, but sometimes people looking in just frankly don't know the reasoning discussed on headsets by the coaches. I said it after that game that ending the game to go to overtime showed that he didn't feel like the team could pull it off and didn't want to have a mess up come back and bite him in the azz. Ala...end of USCjr game, end of UGA games, miss st game etc. I'm sure every single one of your coaching buddies didnt see all those games and considered them when they asked why he was doing what he did. I've said it before...the coming up short by some kind of major error was the true story of this season. Last seasons story was getting it handed to us in the 2nd half. Difference is where I saw improvement this yr.
DD saw OT as the best comfortable shot. Honestly...that's the exact thought I had when I was watching the game. I even said it to the mizzou fan sitting near me at the bar when he asked me what I thought. This opnion came from watching every game this yr in detail. Remember...the O had multiple shots at putting the game away when the score was 28-21, and they didn't. The D stepped up more than people give them credit for in the fourth and the O didn't seal the deal.
Just all IMHO that's all..
This clown won't be back with his Strong BS!
Just logged back on for a few.... What time is the presser again...
Well I guess he will slide in and edit his posts like the other ones to say maybe and most likly!
