And according to you, you could have prevented some of this death by simply wearing a mask. Why didnt you?

By the numbers, according to the paper:
  • There were 15,455 COVID-19 deaths reported in the US during the week ending April 21, 2020.
  • There were 14,478 COVID-19 deaths reported in the US during the week prior.
  • There were 351 flu deaths during the peak week (week 11 of 2016) of the flu season in 2015-16.
  • There were 1626 flu deaths during the peak week (week 3 of 2018) of the flu season in 2018-19.
“These statistics on counted deaths suggest that the number of COVID-19 deaths for the week ending April 21 was 9.5-fold to 44.1-fold greater than the peak week of counted influenza deaths during the past 7 influenza seasons in the US, with a 20.5-fold mean increase,” the authors wrote.

And those counts have been shown to be bunk. It's likely George floyd is a covid death

Like I said, it's new and surprised us. It ravaged nursing homes and assisted living. It is not targeting the healthy community or younger people. It is less dangerous to those communities than flu

Asians have been wearing masks for years. You need a govt agency to see a good idea before you are smart enough to grasp it? I dont doubt that.

Again, you have chosen to actively participate in facilitating virus spread your entire life. How shameful.

I don’t give a flip what Trump the CDC , the media or any other “expert “ says about the virus because they have all lied , they have all put out bad numbers , flip flopped their positions to the point that people don’t believe them . I believed for about two weeks , I see and hear with my own eyes and ears what’s going on around me and since our vacation I’ve seen that I’m not the only one that is taking this position . We live in a state where masks are mandatory but a small % wears them , not even the cops . Hospitals aren’t over ran with Covid , they are actually having less cases , deaths aren’t spiking , they are also going down . So my suggestion to anyone that sees me out in public without my mask on would be ... stay away from me and all the others like me here . This way you won’t have to worry about me getting you sick and I won’t have to worry about you demanding I do something I don’t believe in . 😉

Because no prior virus has been counted this way. They've made up rules as they went along. They admitted they lied to the public about the masks initially because of supply not health. Why should we believe they have our best interests in mind now?

That's not what I said (but you know that), I couldn't possibly know if me wearing a mask would have saved a single life. Though, in retrospect, it couldn't have hurt.

To answer your goal post moving question - because in my lifetime there has never been a lethal of a pandemic that strained the resources of healthcare, the healthcare providers or lifesaving equipment.

But it is better than not wearing one, yet you never did it. Shame.

When 1000 minors die from the flu, that is easily 50,000 life years lost.

When 30,000 people die from covid, it probably isnt 30,000 life years lost.

No wife or kids. Family is 900 plus miles away in Boston. I think they’ll be ok if I somehow contract the virus.

We have a binder at work with cdc updates since my hospital was first aware of covid19.
You get whiplash looking at it. Sometimes 3 to 4 guidance changes a day in the beginning. The book is now 3 inches thick. They have finally stopped putting new notifications in the book. I guess their guidance isn't with another 3" binder. The experts bungled this and have taken their credibility to a new low.

It's not targeting anyone. It just exists, and the "young and healthy" also happen to live in the same planet as the old and unhealthy.

I find it almost comical that people are willing to put up such a fight to put a mask for a few minutes while they're in public. Again, if the experts are wrong - your only inconvenience is an itchy nose for a few minutes. The obstinance is bewildering..
