No one’s rights are being trampled on by being asked to wear a mask in public because the mask wearer is protecting others from their germs so the whole “it’s my choice” nonsense doesn’t hold water. It’s no different than smoking in public. Yes, the smoker technically has the right to smoke but it isn’t fair to put other’s health at risk simply because you have the right to. Unless you are willing to wear an N 95 mask which are extremely uncomfortable, your decision to not wear a mask adversely affects others. There is this notion that wearing a mask is protecting the mask wearer but it isn’t unless you have very specific types that filter microorganisms. Your mask is protecting others from your germs if you sneeze or cough and my mask is protecting others if I sneeze or cough. So if three or four people in a room full of 30 people decide not to wear a mask but everyone else in the room has one one, the only people protected are the three or four without a mask because they are being shielded by the masks of the 26 others. Those three or four people have put everyone else’s health at risk with a simple cough or sneeze even though the other 26 people wore a mask. That is what most people don’t understand when they make the “it’s my choice” argument
