bad calls lol that was more than a bad call. You can't call that. Also just like tonight if mcgahee did not get hurt game over.

McGahee was active for 95% of the game and Miami couldn't put the Buckeyes away.

Held in check, they were running all over them and did not start to lose untill he came out. Gore came in and did ok and would had a better career there but had injuries one after another. He was comming off one early that year.

They weren't running all over them. 20 carries for 67 yds (3.4 avg) for someone who probably averaged over 100 ypg is holding in check. And I believe Gore didn't play that entire season because of an ACL injury.

And Miami was losing for most of the game so I don't know what you mean about them losing after he came out.

ESPN shows that Jarrett Payton had the other rushing stats in that BCS game; so i'm thinking it was he who came in after Mcgahee got hurt

Yeah your right about gore. Mcgahee was gashing them on the drive he got hurt, and I am saying that after he got hurt they could not run at all. That's why Winslow had over a hundred yards.

Just checked and McGahee had 1753 yds and 28 TDs that year. He got hurt in the early 4th quarter. So 67 yds through 3 quarters is holding him in check. Also, Andre Johnson played for that Miami team. Not sure why I thought he didn't.

Yeah I think I remember him starting to find running room right before his injury.

Either way they got robed. Also just trying to say that even more so in Texas case things would have been dif if their main playmaker didn't get hurt.

Tennessee would have been Bama's only loss, and they would have plenty of time to climb back up the polls.

they would have, but i'm still not sure they get in through the back door seeing that there still would have been an undefeated tcu, boise st, and cincinnati team ahead of them. mid-majors or not, it would still be tough for a 1 loss team to leap frog all 3 of them

If they would have handled Texas then they might have avoided this title of worst BCSNC team. But like I said in the OP, they struggled to beat texas' second string. Not very impressive IMO.

Are we now going to discuss the Fla. State QB when UT played them for the national title. Let's spin that a little.

OK

FSU's backup QB had game experience. in fact, he led FSU to a win over the 'turds.

winkie was no colt mccoy. and UT had lost one of the best RBs in CFB that year.

replace mccoy with some mid-level QB, take ingram away from the bammers, and you have a situation closer to 98 imo.

Both UT '98 and Bama '09 had the luxury of not going up against the opponent's starting QB in the national title game.

I disagree with the OP. If Bama is to be criticized for beating a McCoy-less Texas team, then UT shouldn't get a pass for not facing Weinke in Tempe.

At the end of the day LSU's 2-loss national title is still the most bogus of the BCS era, hands down.

IMO, Bama deserves credit for winning the NC and no apologies are necessary. It sucks for Mccoy and Texas.

However, my biggest issue is the apparent crowning of Saban as the greatest coach ever. Great coach, yes, but Mack Brown and his staff did the best job last night. Saban's titles were at Bama and LSU-longtime football powers. He didn't take Vanderbilt to an NC, for the love of Pete. And stop with giving him credit for LSU/Les Miles' NC in '07.

See fake punt/interception early in first quarter on 4th and a mile in your own end. What was that ? If Texas pulls the game out, Saban is ridiculed and mocked.

Last night was not Saban's finest hour, but he won the game and is easily one of the elite coaches in college football, if not the best.

Meyer, Carroll and Brown are on that short list too.

I refuse to hate on Saban as a coach. However he could stand to loosen up a bit.
