j jackson and nuke

Can someone knowledgeable on this subject please explain when and how this will effect recruiting? When the three scholarships will open back up and/or be available to be filled?

Because there is the 25 limit each year...it won't help that much....the 85 roster max will go down as there will be three less scholly players on the team...but the 25 limit will apply next year also...all this does is allows us to take the full 25 max in 11' and maybe 12'...it does not allow us to go over the max though...

If Kiffin comes out and puts the hammer down on these kids publicly then it may not effect recruiting...if he takes time or down plays jackson then some of the recruits parents may have concerns and it may neg. effect recruiting...it's not a good thing for recruiting though...

and to the poster who said nuke can go to the gators with their team of felons on page 3...got to be real about the situation...we are currently the team in the S.E.C with the felons....

Maybe now the fans will think about the character of those kids who are willing to renege on their committments to other schools at the last minute. Jackson and Nuke were two of those.

If you want kids making a 3-5 year committment on an impulse, you're more likely to get some of this.

On espn Chris low said that JJ may not have been involved like Nuke and Edwards were. Chance is slim, but maybe he could remain on the team, or he could be guilty by association.

I dont buy that crap. He knew what was happening.

Didnt the report state that a 3rd male went up to the car and told Nukeese & Edwards it was time to go?

Yeah... he's neck deep in **** too.

This is not true. If the facts are as stated, i.e. Jackson says to the two holding what appeared to be a gun "we need to go," then he appears to be an accomplice, which is just as culpable as the other two.

Janzen was just cleared. I know I have one post, but this comes from a VERY inside source

With all of the information already made public, I would be shocked if Nuke and Mike Edwards aren't dismissed by tonight. As the location of the robberies is one of the Haslam's Pilot stations, I would also bet a lot of money that Kiffin has already seen the surveilance footage and made his decision. I just hope that somehow the footage clears Jackson to the point where he can return next season...

Neither Jackson nor Kiffin would say why he was suspended, but Jackson said after Wednesday afternoon's practice that losing playing time would discourage him from making poor decisions off the playing field.

"It kind of felt like being injured and watching your team play ... it kind of had the same feeling, but to know it was my fault, so it kind of feels a little bit worse," Jackson said. "It's in the past now, and I'm back to work."

from ksl.com after the Memphis game....

It really does look like Jackson won't be charged. Whether he remains a member of the Vols is another matter altogether...

Kiffin when he was hired, talking the talk ... "Don't embarrass yourself or the University." "Don't be the one I have to make an example out of." ... Time to walk the walk Lane ... ENOUGH SAID !

Nuke and Edwards should be dismissed and jailed immediately if for no other reason than stupidity. Jackson seems to be an accessory which means he should probably be gone, too. The question is, would we be covering for Jackson so much if he were just some walk-on scrub who never saw the field?

Like braveheart I would yell Freedom!

Guess not getting arrested the first time was bad for janzen. I thought his time with all the mentors following the last would keep him on the straight and narrow.

Don't blame rap, don't blame culture overall, just young men who need to take the plate of responsibility that will probably entail jail and the loss of millions and start eating.

My apologies!!! I had just read an article on GOVOLSXTRA about Jackson and his fresh legs & freash start, then turned over hear to see you claiming this. Damn, unbelievable!! Jackson,if this is true really surprized me. Coach's (step) son, cleancut no tatts, just didn't see this one coming. Oh well, now we need Elam, Riley, ect... I'll bet there are flames shooting out of CLK collar! I think Ole Miss pays for this one, these coaches will make it all about pulling together. Rod Wilks, back to defense!

Brandon Spikes will have nothing on the "UT players that robbed an innocent bystandered with a semi-automatic gun at 2am were all kicked off the team......except the guy that is a starter and a star...." as the media will report it. It's almost impossible to keep Jackson regardless

Very good point. If that was the case everyone on here (including me) would be calling for his head, but since he is prob a freshman all American things are different.

I would be satisfied with Nuke and Edwards dismissal. I will trust that Kiffin will do the right thing with Jackson. If he is cleared of charges, I would suspended him for the rest of the season at which time I would reevaluate his future with the team. I would make him go into a drug rehabilitation program since that is part of the problem in this incident, and make him piss in a cup weekly till he graduates. I would also tell him, that since he has had some recent detrimental behavior that he needed to maintain a 3.5 gpa to keep a spot on the team. Otherwise he should transfer, but honestly while writing this I would be quite alright if they dismissed all three players.

 Or if Jackson was a scrub player with two strikes already against him...

My update:

J Jackson should be gone IMO even if charges are dropped against him. It was clear to him after his other law breaking that although he was not charged, he had to straighten up.

The way they did this makes me hope they were very stoned. This is so embarassing. Wannabe thugs in hoodies with a pellet gun driving away in a Prius? It is like an Alabama fan had a magic lamp and now has two wishes left...

Finally those boys will not get 7 plus years in jail like the radio says. They do not have criminal records and they will get less. I would expect a year for both and both will have the opportunity to go to Hampton or something like that after they get out to try to play football.

The victims sound like they did not have fear for their life and I do believe that it was a spur of the moment thing. Bad decision, and I guess they would have legitimately taken the money so it was very wrong. It also makes me glad that no one called the cops when we had fights back in college. Assault and battery charges would have made my time at UT very different.

I hope I don't take too much heat over this but I'm going to tell yall what a friend of mine said today. About 30 mins before the attempted robbery occured my classmate was walking back to his apartment near the Fort area. He said that two guys, one with a pellet gun tried to mug him but he got away and once he got to his apartment he immediately reported it to the police. In class today he said that the guys that tried to mug him resembled two of the guys that were arrested today. He said he isn't sure if the cops are going to have him try to identify the people that tried to mug him, but if they do it could get a lot worse for them if he does. Like I said I'm not trying to take heat for this or start rumors just passing some information. By the way, I personally know this kid he has no reason to lie and would never make something like this up.
