Kiffin recruits the best of the best, Pearl has yet to prove this
I agree, up until this year, Bruce has done very well for this year. I will add that this flies in the face of the post I responded to. If CLK is so horrible then why is he able to bring in such good players? The most important thing a head coach can do is recruit the players to his system.
Pearl took a rag tag squad and secured the #1 seed in the SEC East his first year; Kiffin took a rag tag squad and pretty much did what was expected of him.
That squad was much better than previous years record and CBP was a good enough coach to get all he could out of them. I won't argue this point too much but I will point out that football and basketball are different animals and their accomplishments are to judge in comparison.
Pearl has done a spectacular job in his first five years as head coach, while Kiffin never stayed for one full recruiting season.
Absolutely, and this very well could back up my argument that Pearl hasn't been offered hid dream job yet. Maybe he never will.
Pearl is a great speaker, Kiffin is a poor speaker.
This is pure opinion. Kiffin doesn't like the interviews, Pearl on the other hand seems to love them. Is there any real debate though that CLK was great at using the media to get his name and brand out there? I would say that putting the vols name on every tongue given the horrible shape the program was in was pretty solid.
I could go on but why bother. You get the idea, or you should.
The fact of the matter is when I made the statement you originally responded to I oversimplified the situation and I freely admit that. They are distinctly different coaches in many ways but I was speaking to the point of one being elsewhere and the other still with us while noting that one got called for his dream job and the other hasn't yet. Perhaps Bruce never will get that call he wants so badly, I imagine that is why he initiates contact with them.
