J.P. Prince Transferring to Tennessee?

Kiffin recruits the best of the best, Pearl has yet to prove this

I agree, up until this year, Bruce has done very well for this year. I will add that this flies in the face of the post I responded to. If CLK is so horrible then why is he able to bring in such good players? The most important thing a head coach can do is recruit the players to his system.

Pearl took a rag tag squad and secured the #1 seed in the SEC East his first year; Kiffin took a rag tag squad and pretty much did what was expected of him.

That squad was much better than previous years record and CBP was a good enough coach to get all he could out of them. I won't argue this point too much but I will point out that football and basketball are different animals and their accomplishments are to judge in comparison.

Pearl has done a spectacular job in his first five years as head coach, while Kiffin never stayed for one full recruiting season.

Absolutely, and this very well could back up my argument that Pearl hasn't been offered hid dream job yet. Maybe he never will.

Pearl is a great speaker, Kiffin is a poor speaker.

This is pure opinion. Kiffin doesn't like the interviews, Pearl on the other hand seems to love them. Is there any real debate though that CLK was great at using the media to get his name and brand out there? I would say that putting the vols name on every tongue given the horrible shape the program was in was pretty solid.

I could go on but why bother. You get the idea, or you should.

The fact of the matter is when I made the statement you originally responded to I oversimplified the situation and I freely admit that. They are distinctly different coaches in many ways but I was speaking to the point of one being elsewhere and the other still with us while noting that one got called for his dream job and the other hasn't yet. Perhaps Bruce never will get that call he wants so badly, I imagine that is why he initiates contact with them.

No, no I won't.

I've never said that Dooley is going to be better than Kiffin. I don't usually try and act like I can predict the future. What I will say is I wasn't more impressed by the Kiffin hire than I am by the Dooley hire.
I don't care if you were impressed. Our fan base was very impressed with him, although some people try not to remember that. USC was also impressed with him.

Nothing. However some people are so upset about the Kiffin situation, it's easier to cope with it if they pretend he sucked.

Who's pretending?

Look at our game by game results last year. How many games did UT lose that they should have won? Now, how many games did they win that they should have lost?

Honest answers would get you at 2 and 0. In a 12 game season that just ain't gonna cut it. Then add in getting your doors blown off in a couple of games and it really starts to pile up. That was one of your biggest gripes about Fulmer - not just losing, but losing big.

Bottom line. Kiffin is a clown that may or may not become a respectable head coach.

Maybe 1? UCLA? And why was UT just better than South Carolina and Georgia? Certainly wasn't the case the year before.

Yeah. Fulmer seemed to disappear when he went up against wildly superior coaches.

It's hilarious that you claim Lane Kiffin is the reason MP is going to be here next year. I mean, that doesn't even make sense at all.
Yeah. They probably didn't do anything to convince Palardy about how great UT was. They probably just gave him hostesses, and he happened to like the campus.

Doing anything was better than what he did. I mean, you know that had about a 0% chance of going through right?
What are you basing that on? Anything we did was pretty low percentage. I may have taken another play, but the loss is Lincoln's fault.

Yeah. They probably didn't do anything to convince Palardy about how great UT was. They probably just gave him hostesses, and he happened to like the campus.

No matter what you say, Lane Kiffin is not the reason MP is coming to UT. Period. Lane Kiffin doesn't even coach here anymore? I don't see how it could even factor into his decision?

Who is responsible for the #1 kicker in the country being here? It wasn't Dooley.

It can be argued that Kiffin brought them 90% while Dooley brought them 10%. Some of them, anyway. The early enrolees were locked in and only one of them actually asked for his release and got it.

That final 10% was a pretty good job, no doubt. However, my crystal ball shows nothing but question marks....and Krystal burgers.

Yeah. Lane Kiffin probably didn't even pursue Palardy. MP probably always just 'bled orange.'

The fact that he was horrible, hurt, and a prior kick in that game? Did you even watch the game?
I'm sure the 'hurt' was just a nice excuse. He missed badly in the Ole Miss game later, just like he always had. It doesn't mean you just don't use the position. We had to make do with what we had.

I said an honest assessment. Maybe 1 - get outta here! His coaching sucked bad in the UCLA game. The entire game plan against AU sucked. Getting beat at home in those two games was plain pitiful.

Yeah. Fulmer seemed to disappear when he went up against wildly superior coaches.

What is Kiffin's record against wildly superior coaches. 0 and what?
