J.P. Prince Transferring to Tennessee?

Calling Lane Kiffin someone who can't coach sounds mighty presumptuous (or was it pretentious) to me. How stupid of him to hire the best assistants money can buy to shore up any perceived deficiencies.

Oh yes. He has proven himself so well. You speak of the 3 jobs hes had/has.

JOB 1: UTTER FAILURE
JOB 2: MEDIOCRE AT BEST
JOB 3: N/A

If you plan on making an excuse for any of these evaluations, don't bother. I've already heard them all.

There are very few if any coaches out there who can avoid being an utter failure with Al Davis at the helm.

The results were mediocre but given the talent we lacked and playing in the SEC don't you believe he did what he could with the players he had to work with? If the answer is no, name 10 coaches that would have acheived more with equal circumstances.

Agreed, no one can judge him as USC's head coach yet.

please tell us.

Kiffin recruits the best of the best, Pearl has yet to prove this

Pearl took a rag tag squad and secured the #1 seed in the SEC East his first year; Kiffin took a rag tag squad and pretty much did what was expected of him.

Pearl has done a spectacular job in his first five years as head coach, while Kiffin never stayed for one full recruiting season.

Pearl is a great speaker, Kiffin is a poor speaker.

I could go on but why bother. You get the idea, or you should.

IMO Kiffin and his staff are far superior to Mr. WAC and Co. Kiffin impressed me with a lot of things he did. In particular his excellent recruiting ability, energy, gameplanning, and ability to market the program to recruits (could be grouped in with recruiting). All of those things are things that will win you a lot of games and all are areas I feel Dooley will fall short in. As far as game management goes, I think Kiffin left a lot to be desired and it wouldn’t surprise me if Dooley is better in that area. All things considered Kiffin>>Dooley

Be prepared for the Dooley Sheep to call you a closet USC fan, among other things.

Kiffins marketing ability? What?

Do you call calling out Urban Meyer, and then getting embarrassed marketing ability? Or was it the secondary violations? I know it wasn't his speaking, the man sounds like a third grader reading out loud in front of the class for the first time.

I know. I know. I've heard it all before.

We lost the UCLA game because of Crompton
We lost the Florida and Bama the way we did because of how awesome Kiffin is
Every other game we lost was due to lack of depth on defense.

Heard it all before brosef.
We lost so much because the person in charge before ran the team so far into the ground it will take time to actually get a talented football team. People like you and your deranged support of anyone who brings you a little success are the reason he was here so long.

That's why he was pulling in great recruits, went to USC, and pulled in the number 1 rivals class in about a month. Feel free to stick to a south carolina fan interpretation of a good head coach. All this "Dooley's bringing respectability back to the program" talk is a joke.

Agree, as of right now I see nothing that would indicate Dooley being a better head coach than Kiffin. I actually see alot of evidence to the contrary.

That being said, when Kiffin was hired, I immediately started checking things off of my "frustrated with Fulmer" list because they were all publicly addressed soon after the hiring. Especially the big ole "eff you" he gave Urban.

Dooley just has a different style, hope it pays off.

Sorry, I thought he hired the best assistant coaches money could buy. yet our special teams were the laughing stock of the NCAA. Yea, I watched all right. Watched us get trounced on special teams each and every game.

Don't color me shocked that you made an excuse for it though.

He has the "ability to market the program to recruits (could be grouped in with recruiting).” This is what I posted and meant, would you disagree with this? The fact that he would’ve had a Top 3 class proves this. And as far as “embarrassing” the program, I’m sure you were loving it when it happened, just as most of us were. We loved it because of the excitement it brought to the program. However, since you joined about a month and a half ago there’s no record of your opinion of him and I’m sure you’re going to say you never liked him and you’ve always felt Dooley was the better option.

We should just hire Frank Beamer so our special teams can always be good.

I bet they are better this year than they were last.

Care to make a friendly wager?
Are you talking about special teams? If so, how do you judge that? In anyway, it's far less important than offense or defense. Our overall record will almost certainly be worse. Of course, I'm sure you'll have excuses for that.

I'd wager our special teams will be better due to the kicker. Of course the flip side to that coin is that he is a Kiffin recruit.

True. We hopefully won't see any kicks hitting the defenders in the armpits. I'm sure SaintBruce will use that as an example of why Kiffin can't win.

No, no I won't.

I've never said that Dooley is going to be better than Kiffin. I don't usually try and act like I can predict the future. What I will say is I wasn't more impressed by the Kiffin hire than I am by the Dooley hire.

I would almost guarantee that our STs will be better this year than last. That is because Dooley will actually have a kicker that can kick off past the 10, kick field goals longer than 30 yards, and can punt it longer than 35 yards. Not exactly a luxury that Kiffin had and that was not his fault. In fact, you can thank that STs coach that you are so eagerly bashing for the possible kicking phenom we have coming in.
