Holy smokes. Again, I leave long enough to go to the bathroom and look what happens!
Well, that'll teach you to go to the bathroom before recruiting season is over.
From now on, you'll just have to hold it.

But if your bathroom trips are what it takes to keep the blue-chip players coming, then I hope you have diarrhea.

We have 2-3 times the NIL money which helps. Sam got us a lot on a lot of finalists lists but we lost out on a few simply because we couldn't meet a NIL offer from another school. Now we can. But we also have a system that is appealing to a lot of players and obviously a coaching staff that resonates with recruits, even in a short amount of time. A lot of things going for us that I think a lot of people didn't expect... at least not right away. I certainly was a skeptic at least with how fast Kim and staff could have success at HS recruiting level. They have knocked it out of the park so far!

This is something I really would like to know about. Everyone fought and spit over the NIL support (or seeming lack thereof, especially from the big NIL collectives, who supposedly would not assist at all) over the last five years, and how that support level compares to the current level of support (both in financial totals and impact to recruiting attitudes).

I'm not saying the money is the sole reason for this turnaround. I couldn't say to what extent it is. But all of a sudden, five star players want to come to Tennessee again - and before UT's even made a statement on the court? From a coach who hasn't won at the highest level yet? Was it really just the last coach? Or was some of it - more than some might want to admit - the lack of NIL money? A question I would love to have an informed answer for.

Did they win a championship or not? You said you can't win one without a center, and I proved you wrong. Our bigs have to play big I agree, but you can win without one. I think Latham plays bigger than her size. We need others to do the same.
Yea, I got you but can we agree they was able to win because they played through Angel through the post. That’s with every championship team you see the game being won through the post Cordosa, Boston, Brink, Brown, Aja and so on.

Yeah I’ve been curious about this for a while. We know the the lady vols become part of the Vol Club but it’s not like all of the players are a part of it. I would assume all of our HS recruits would be.

Is there a reason why they weren’t apart of the Vol Club until this season? Did Danny White want a clean cut and bring in a new coach along with the new NIL funds?

That is indeed the $100,000 question. Depending on who you speak to, the why sounds a bit different - but it does sound real.

NOT that I'm prosecuting the last staff again, or dredging it up for an argument. I just thought the "Kellie can't recruit" assertions always felt uninformed and probably unfair. As if anyone could have competed for top talent without a strong NIL platform. There's two things that talk now. Money or rings. Or, if you're really on top - money and rings.

We literally lost players to Clemson. Miss me with the “it was just NIL” every team wasn’t throwing out big money. Kellie just couldn’t close.

Once again, she never recruited well at the P4 level. She couldn’t recruit before NIL was a thing. That makes NIL an excuse.

Truth is unless Kellie writes a book we’ll never really know. So instead we react emotionally to the question and divide up into our camps to squabble.

I couldn’t understand how the same staff recruited the portal so well. Couldn’t get jack fm high school then gets Rickea Jackson fm the portal. Some ‘insiders’ said that was bc of donor reluctance to pour into unproven hs players but more willing w known quantity transfers.

A lot happened to Kellie that was bad timing and bad luck. Also true she never showed the coaching chops to get over the hump of winning big games. Where NIL fit in the picture, if at all is an interesting question that will live on around here like the damn 1.1 3 pt shot.
