Both can be true. This is something I really would like to know about. Everyone fought and spit over the NIL support (or seeming lack thereof, especially from the big NIL collectives, who supposedly would not assist at all) over the last five years, and how that support level compares to the current level of support (both in financial totals and impact to recruiting attitudes).
I'm not saying the money is the sole reason for this turnaround. I couldn't say to what extent it is. But all of a sudden, five star players want to come to Tennessee again - and before UT's even made a statement on the court? From a coach who hasn't won at the highest level yet? Was it really just the last coach? Or was some of it - more than some might want to admit - the lack of NIL money? A question I would love to have an informed answer for.
The book would still only tell you one person’s view of the truth not the truth.Truth is unless Kellie writes a book we’ll never really know. So instead we react emotionally to the question and divide up into our camps to squabble.
I couldn’t understand how the same staff recruited the portal so well. Couldn’t get jack fm high school then gets Rickea Jackson fm the portal. Some ‘insiders’ said that was bc of donor reluctance to pour into unproven hs players but more willing w known quantity transfers.
A lot happened to Kellie that was bad timing and bad luck. Also true she never showed the coaching chops to get over the hump of winning big games. Where NIL fit in the picture, if at all is an interesting question that will live on around here like the damn 1.1 3 pt shot.
If there's 12 young Ladies better than Civil well that's just unbelievable. She looks a lot better than many of the 5* the lady VOLS have had over the years. Only thing I didn't see was defense just didn't show any on the highlights. GLV
What's Prawl's 3 ball like? She’s actually projected as one of the best defenders in her class. That’s a huge part of her upside. Menace in the passing lanes, gets down in a stance and gets after it. After the takeaway she has superior finishing ability. Her biggest drawback is her long ball I believe.
LOL you knew how to hook me! I've heard the Rickea level natural scorer comparison before.Smooth like butter
Step back? Check
Pull up? Check
Spot up? Check
Her shot looks a lot like Rickea’s especially form mid-range.
Is there a reason you can’t celebrate this commitment without taking potshots at the prior coaches?
Kim's recruiting success shows there are a lot of players out there who apparently want to play in this style of BB. And if she keeps loading up with these type players I don't see any reason this style won't succeed in P5 BB.
Scouting report looks fantastic! Great fit for this system. This is shaping up to the one of the best HS recruiting classes we’ve had in so long!
Here come the Kellie stans blaming NIL AGAIN for why they couldn’t recruitWe have 2-3 times the NIL money which helps. Sam got us a lot on a lot of finalists lists but we lost out on a few simply because we couldn't meet a NIL offer from another school. Now we can. But we also have a system that is appealing to a lot of players and obviously a coaching staff that resonates with recruits, even in a short amount of time. A lot of things going for us that I think a lot of people didn't expect... at least not right away. I certainly was a skeptic at least with how fast Kim and staff could have success at HS recruiting level. They have knocked it out of the park so far!
Prawl shot 19% on 3s on 3 attempts per game at the FIBA U17 World Cup this year. She shot 25% on 3s on 2.7 attempts per game in last year's FIBA U16 AmeriCup. I don't know if it's fair to read too much into these FIBA stats, though. Can't find anything on her high school shooting percentages.LOL you knew how to hook me! I've heard the Rickea level natural scorer comparison before.
But I'm asking about accuracy? I wanna hear she (Prawl) shoots the 3 at 35% now w the likelihood of working up to high 30s% in college.
Sorry to hijack Civil's thread.
They can be great on defense no matter what the style is. So, if Kim has to alter some things while they are, I would still want fast and athletic players who pride themselves in defense.Kim's recruiting success shows there are a lot of players out there who apparently want to play in this style of BB. After a summer watching the W closely, this is in no way a W style. Can't imagine anyone pressing this aggresively the whole game. Not w 44 games in 3 months.Money is going to be a part of it going forward but this style of play is very receptive to a lot of high school players. It is a WNBA style in many ways fast paced and the 30 second clock never comes into play for us on offense. I would like to see the starters play three minutes before we sub cause any player should be able to go all out for three minutes, but that is just something I like not something that makes the style of play not awesome.
Not the way we play defense more so the offensive style was of what I was speaking. We don't have a 30 second clock were more into the 24 second or earlier. After a summer watching the W closely, this is in no way a W style. Can't imagine anyone pressing this aggresively the whole game. Not w 44 games in 3 months.
And I think that's exactly what this will settle into, esp as the talent and skill level increases. A fast paced athletic, get after you w D game, but one that can adapt to whatever style the matchups dictate. The make it ugly style will be less needed, it will be pretty/fast.They can be great on defense no matter what the style is. So, if Kim has to alter some things while they are, I would still want fast and athletic players who pride themselves in defense.
