Is it Banks or his assistants? I'll admit that it's hard for a coordinator to do all the things he'd like if he hasn't the tools, but development is mostly the position coach, no?Banks has already proven his worth to me this year by what he was able to do with the front seven, especially before all of our LBs became a MASH unit.
I think once he gets this new crop of young DBs coached up, the passing defense will become absolutely feared around the league
Changing a proven coach and hoping for a upgrade before improving the talent isn't the answer either. Kamal transfer here because he wasn't playing correct. Lally was at vandy and BYU correct. Slaughter is playing out of position.Kamal Hadden would have started at a few. I think Slaughter will play at Ole Miss. Jeudy Lally might find a starting spot in the right scheme. I mostly agree that we need to upgrade the talent and depth especially at corner. But that is not the only problem.
Don’t disagree with the facts, Martinez has guys in the NFL. But he’s also been coaching for like 30 years. Anybody around that long is going to put some guys in the league.WM isn't the problem the talent is. WM has developed several guys that are playing or have played in the NFL. Our roster was depleted and the staff has been here 3 years. They still need time to get a couple of positions up to speed. If you don't agree name one secondary player that would start at any top 15 program.
Stop with the excuses. Martinez sucks and if you would be honest and objective you would admit it. So talent? The roster was depleted. Yet somehow with a depleted roster Garner managed to develop the talent he had. Just like Elarbee. Yet Martinez hadn’t developed squat. You keep talking about what WM has done in the past. How about what has he done lately?WM isn't the problem the talent is. WM has developed several guys that are playing or have played in the NFL. A coach will tell his secondary to play soft because they are slow. That is the only logical reason because if that was just the coaches decision the DC or Head coach would correct them. Kids learn how to tackle in little league once the bullets are flying the good players remember the not so good players forget because they aren't playing fast and free.Don’t disagree with the facts, Martinez has guys in the NFL. My frustration with him has more to do with poor tackling and soft/no coverage when we are in zone. Those aren’t scheme or talent issues, that’s getting your guys ready to play and making sure they know what to do.
We need a lot more athleticism and speed everywhere but especially on defense. As for tackling, they just don't tackle like they used to. Maybe it's the rules on targeting or an effort to avoid injury to the tackler. Looks closer to a soccer tackle than a football tackle. Just a different game being played these days.A coach will tell his secondary to play soft because they are slow. You think he has been employed at this level of football for ALL these years and somehow just lost the recipe? Your constant mantra not acknowledging it COULD be the ingredients, especially with most of our last years supply being routed to the portal is telling. Might want to consider some counseling. I might sense some Napolean complex in your body of work with some serial redundancy issues added in.Stop with the excuses. Martinez sucks and if you would be honest and objective you would admit it. Our CBs are fundamentally unsound. That’s coaching. The reason you can’t name a single Cb that would start at a top 15 program is because Martinez sucks as a coach. Name the top 15 program that would hire Martinez right now. I will wait.
Dude, stop. I am normally pretty supportive of coaches, particularly the Heupel regime, but WM has been bad long before this stent at Tennessee. I've thought Martinez was garbage since Cutcliffe sliced and diced his defense at UGA in 2006 and 2007. All the tell tell signs, giving too much cushion, DB's not playing the ball, looking totally unprepared, are all trademarks of his coaching at every stop he has had. He must be a helluva nice guy though.WM isn't the problem the talent is. WM has developed several guys that are playing or have played in the NFL. Obviously our head coach doesn't agree with you. Just because you think something doesn't make it trueDude, stop. Head coaches are not infallible, I think Heupel knows better, I think he's just a nice guy that wants to believe Martinez can turn it around. Martinez preys on that personality type, it's why he stayed tucked up under Mark Richt for so long.Obviously our head coach doesn't agree with you. You don't think coaches are human beings who make mistakes and errors in judgment? They are. Alot of coaches, even really good ones are prone to having difficulty managing subordinates at times, particularly on the side of the ball they are not experts in. You can f-right off with this smarter than the average bear routine when it comes to Martinez. I've thought he was a liability to any staff he was on, long before he coached for Heupel. There's a reason he's generally found his longest tenures with positive, character culture building offensive guys like Heupel and Richt though. No you told me you thought CH was just being nice and that's why WM is on staff. At that point I knew I was wasting my time

You have an opinion on the coach. My opinion of you is I would not enjoy discussing sports with you so please discuss this with someone else. You don't think coaches are human beings who make mistakes and errors in judgment? They are. Apparently you are one of those. I've got to credit you, I've rarely seen such bullshid from a poster, as you starting the conversation, telling me you want to quit, and then refusing to ride off into the sunset you claim to want. It's comical.Yeah you're one of those. Have to have the last word. Good night man
Hopefully he’s a gem but to catch Georgia and bama we simply have to recruit top 5 consistently and that’s looking more and more of an impossibility. When we were playing for championships under Fulmer that’s what he was able to do in recruiting.Bad take. Schools like MTSU often have players that are very talented, that’s why they get drafted. They have fewer, but some gems. Ohio State is chasing one of their DL.
