Jalen Hurd potential

No disrespect, but first off, you're an idiot....

1) Jalen Hurd is (as of yesterday) 223 lbs. He has lost a little weight and size, but not much.

2) Hurd did whatever he had to do to get yards. Whether that was outrun you or run you over, he got what he needed to win ball games. Look at the entire offensive stats last year and you'll soon realize that he had 90% of those. So, he carried this team on his back - literally - went undefeated and got them a state championship.

3) Hurds family MADE HIM stay at home for a couple of weeks after he had surgery. They didn't want him out on the sidelines freshly out of surgery, still on medication, etc.

People thought Jalen turned his back on his team. If anyone thinks that, then you're truly an effin idiot. Jalen had this surgery as it was best for his future. There was NOTHING left on the high school level that he had to prove. His ONLY GOAL was to be well for UT in the Spring. Beech students, community and ESPECIALLY the coaches were butthurt because of it. They tried to treat him like crap because of it too.

Whoever you are, you must have gotten your sweet little feelings hurt this year too because Beech turned into a very sub par team without him on the field. GET OVER IT!

I mean really... How far does a kids arm have to be ripped out its socket before it's ok to not play high school football?
Wondering if you saw this thread. Seriously..the locals got peeved when he chose to have his surgery?

Everybody on VN is blowing this kid to be the savior. It woukd be nice if he is the next great one but reality is for TN not to be such! Look at Riggs and/or Houston, Davis, Tinsley etc..

I believe he will be our Herschel.

That TV game vs Malone and Station Camp was amazing. Hurd played 3 quarters injured and was a true team player. He was a man among boys. He and Todd Kelly fun to watch.

Yes, unfortunately, they did. People thought that he should have played injured and went out and won another championship - giving no regard to his health or his future. You expect it from the kids, but not from the adults. Very immature people.

Well... Nothing brings out the worst in people like having success then abruptly losing. People NEED to blame something. Personally, I thought the coach was a dumbass for running him 40 times a game, but my thoughts were confirmed when he decided to play him on defense on top of that.

Like I stated, I knew was going to get killed.
1> If it was just Routine Labrum, then no, it would not be major. But this injury was understated. Loosing a chunk of bone is Major. Shoulder recovery is harder than most all joint repair because that joint moves in more directions than the knee, elbow, ankle, etc.
2. I said everyone had their opinions on running styles, and I just stated mine. Those who see him as a bruising punishing Eddie George type of running back, I just don't see it yet. Maybe he will
3. Im going by what I saw a week ago, He has lost a lot of weight and upper body bulk.
4. I know more than Im going to say on here about why he missed some games his team played, Im not hating on him, just stating the obvious. He was not there.
% I don't hate Jalen at all, I did a jig when he committed. Dooley had it so screwed up the Kid was headed to OSU or Bammer before Butch made him the first recruit he saw last year on day 1.
As for maturing, it means understanding that he has to hold himself accountable at ALL times. No keg party pics etc...

You're right about the injury. Most on here don't understand the extent of the damage. He's high risk going forward and this may be a major issue at UT.

Live 1 mile from his HS. Watched him for 3 years. I'm gonna get killed but here goes;
Jalen has got to recover from a MAJOR shoulder injury first. He hasn't lifted weights in a long time, his weight is down below 200. His injury has been downplayed greatly.
Now as far as running styles go, everyone has their own opinion, but Ive never considered him a bruising or punishing style of back. he is more of a sliding style that uses his speed once he sees a crease or lane open, but he does not

".run over" people.
Last but not least, he has a little maturing to do. After his injury this year he came to only a few of his teams games, and he needs to understand how much he will be in the limelight and watched at "all" times..

If he can recover physically, and mature some, the sky is the limit

He was 212 a few days ago. His right shoulder does bother him but hes lifting.

He will be doing a full shoulder workout witj a few of my friends this week and they plan on doing super sets.

Hes cleared. He will be fine.

Who in the world are you? This is not a pissing contest, but I can "with certainty" tell you that you are wrong. The only thing that it seems to me is that you are a Jalen hater.

The labrum tear is never good, but it's definitely not the end of the world. He's not a qb or a pitcher and he doesn't run on his hands. The shoulder is solid - more solid than your shoulder or mine is right now.

I have two additional photos but I am in them so they arent coming on here.

I also have a signed ut hat.

I am done posting pics though. I felt creepy doing it and kinda feel I crossed a line.

As for maturity...hes a teenager who is a five star. Hard not to be somewhat cocky. Very very polite kid though.

Facts. That's cute. Keep trolling. No one here believes you. You have no credibility when it comes to Jalen Hurd, and everyone knows it.
Kid has been hovering around 223-225. It's not that serious, but it is what it is.

You, and everyone else, will see really soon.

I'm not pissed. Just not a fan of people getting on these sites blatantly lying for the sake of having something to write. That's how stupid rumors start. I "know" that you're lying, so that's why I'm trying to figure out why you'd write crap like that.

This kid looks very impressive. Although he doesn't play as highly touted highschool teams, his numbers can not go unnoticed. You can only play the hand that is given to you, and he is a man amongst boys. I have played runningback my whole life. I will say this. IF and I say IF Hurd can learn to play at 6' and keep his leverage low, and if he continues to play with that kill attitude like he has; Hurd is the kind of player that can take a team above and beyond all expectations. He has the potential to have the kind of impact that can make an average team great. Everyone talks about him being to tall, but height doesn't matter if you play low and with an attitude. He has all the potential but he must put in work. The thing I notice most is that he has massive legs, which means he has a lot of room to grow and will not lose speed. Being a running back is all about legs leverage and awareness. He has 2 of the 3. We must wait and see about his leverage. Often times he runs at 6'3 and just relies on breaking through bad tackling. With this coaching staff though I am convinced this kid will be a huge star and could become one of the sec's best backs in the past few years. He is not a 4.3 guy (high school clocks r off by a tenth or two) he is more around 4.5 but he gains speed as he runs. So he will be a homerin guy.

He's been laser timed at a 4.37

Fracture dislocation with a bony bankart injury. Much worse than a labrum. Especially after one failed repair.

People are dumb. I know ur close to Jalen. He will be a great RB. Not safety. Not TE. RUNNINGBACK.

Labrum tear - different location, not the same as before - no fracture - with an additional Latarjet procedure for good measure. Not quite what you think, but hey, what do I know.

But Neocon has the ability to look at a hudl film and tell a kid's exact weight, so you must be lying!

Eddie George, Eric Dickerson and numerous others would disagree.

As does UT's other RB who was born and bred in the state of Tennessee. James "little man" Stewart was far closer to 6'2' than 6'1' listed for him.

He did pretty good at UT:

Rushing
Year G Att Yds Avg TD
1991 11 190 939 4.9 8
1992 11 85 386 4.5 7
1993 11 86 537 6.2 9
1994 11 170 1028 6.1 11
+----------------------------------------------------
Totals 44 531 2890 5.4 35

Receiving
Year G | No Yds Avg TD
1991 11 | 18 106 5.9 0
1992 11 | 7 121 17.3 1
1993 11 | 12 89 7.4 0
1994 11 | 17 147 8.7 3
+----------------------------------------------------
Totals 54 463 8.6 4

He was our leading rusher in the early 90's and when he left Tennessee he was the all-time career rushing leader (he's 3rd now not far behind Foster #2 and Henry #1). He still owns our modern record for rushing touchdowns at 35 (Touchdowns rushing—37, Gene McEver 1928-31 Modern record—35, James Stewart 1991-94.).

And beyond the records, who didn't love watching simply jump over the pile into the endzone?

So yeah UT has had some luck with tall Tennesseans playing RB -- very good luck. :)

So far we got he was 223 yesterday and got a he's 212 a few days ago...

He's expected to level off at around 240 later this week. Part of the weight will be putting in the final section of steel/titanium shoulder unit. He has not been on the sidelines because each night he has been training with and receiving superhuman powers from Rod Wilkes.

Hurd is now part cyborg who, if need be, can run the forty faster than a stopwatch button can be pressed. However, Upon completing his football god training with Rod Wilks, time as we know it will no longer apply to him. Because of his part cyborg, part football god status, this thread was possibly created, by him, as a smoke screen.
