Jalen Hurd potential

This. Dupree benched 405 lbs for 10 at the age of 18. He's one of the greatest genetic freak athletes ever.

Anyone comparing an 18 yr old kid who has never taken a snap at the college level to some of the greatest running backs in the history of football are setting the kid up for failure.

Likely, it will be some of you morons who turn on him first if he doesn't meet "your expectations"

Dupree was built in some mad scientist's lab...this guy was as big as a dinosauer...but a very humble, spiritual gentleman. It was his trusting nature that allowed scumbags to use him...glad he is finally getting his due...and fwiw he told me Tennessee was in the top 5 of his choices back then...he really liked CJM.

I played ILB with a labrum tear. You can play about any position except QB with it. It hurts and it's annoying but you can play through it. I don't blame him one bit for not finishing his senior year with it . He has a future to look foward to. If he was going for a NC or getting ready for the Super Bowl I'm sure he would have played through it.

The labrum is paper thin and they don't want you doing much for several months to make sure you don't pull it open again. I've been there and know from experience he will be just fine playing Running Back next year.

Labrum tear - different location, not the same as before - no fracture - with an additional Latarjet procedure for good measure. Not quite what you think, but hey, what do I know.

Do you know why a Latarjet is performed? Have you done one? You might google that before you tell me there was no fracture. Also check out "bony bankart".

Hey not trying to compare Jalen to Dupree or Jackson. Just saying I hope this young man can become to us what they were to their teams.
Put better he becomes the Peyton Manning for RB`s. You know the one all other rb`s here our compared to.

I know the difference between a bankart and bankart bony lesion. I also know that he had the Latarjet as a preventative due to the multiple dislocations.

If you are a physician, that's super. Yet, you're not Elrod nor did you do Jalen's procedure nor have you seen any of Jalens imaging. So, your speculation is only theoretical as you actually "do not know" what Jalen had done or why.

Like I stated, I knew was going to get killed.
1> If it was just Routine Labrum, then no, it would not be major. But this injury was understated. Loosing a chunk of bone is Major. Shoulder recovery is harder than most all joint repair because that joint moves in more directions than the knee, elbow, ankle, etc.
2. I said everyone had their opinions on running styles, and I just stated mine. Those who see him as a bruising punishing Eddie George type of running back, I just don't see it yet. Maybe he will
3. Im going by what I saw a week ago, He has lost a lot of weight and upper body bulk.
4. I know more than Im going to say on here about why he missed some games his team played, Im not hating on him, just stating the obvious. He was not there.
% I don't hate Jalen at all, I did a jig when he committed. Dooley had it so screwed up the Kid was headed to OSU or Bammer before Butch made him the first recruit he saw last year on day 1.
As for maturing, it means understanding that he has to hold himself accountable at ALL times. No keg party pics etc...

Everybody knows something about somebody. It's called street cred and way to many people crave it.

Let me rephrase. His actual speed is probably 4.5-4.55. U train to run the 40. Actual game speed is different.

You're trying too hard. Is "actual game speed" slower or faster? And, if it applies to Jalen then it applies to everyone else on the field. So, does it matter? They're still not gonna catch him are they?

The kid's a freak. Can't we all just be happy he's a VOL?

I swear somebody on VN always has something negative to say. I truly believe we could land Fournett, Hurd, Jackson and Garret and somebody on here would find something bad to say about it.

I am with you. Hurd is a beast and I am beyond happy that he is coming to Tennessee.

You don't run a 40 in pads. He's a 4.37. When everyone else is timed by game speed. Ill judge hurd by game speed. He was electronically timed at a 4.37. He ran the 40 the same way everyone else does.

Ok. I am not knocking his speed. What I am explaining is that you do specific training for the 40 yard dash. You don't just get up and run in the 4.3's. He is a fast kid. His real time speed is a 4.5 4.55 range which is really good still. I'm not arguing his electronic time, I am giving him credit: the whole post was positive.

In college he will be fast. But there is a lot of fast guys in college as well. Your mistaking what I said.

1st. When did labrum surgery become "major"?
2nd. He runs "over", through, and "around" people.
3. Posters on THIS SITE have photographed him working out AND there are numerous reports of his training regiment.
4. Do you know why he missed some games? No? I dont either. Maybe it is too painful to watch his team play without him.
5. Haters gon' hate.

How close are you to Hurd and his situation? The guy you responded to claims to live close by and to have attended his games for 3 years. That's more significant than watching highlight videos... which admittedly is all I have done.

As far as #4 is concerned... sorry, if true, there's no excuse for not supporting your teammates.
