James Green

James and his family are driving back. James is asleep. I spoke with his uncle who is very involved in the process who said the visit went really well and that James is all set to be a Vol and there will be no more visits.

We will catch up to James a little bit later this evening.

I hope thats true. I think we pick up a few after this weekend.

new article up...apparently little kids asked him for autographs while he was there and he really enjoyed his trip.

he said he's not planning on any visits.

he seems as solid as anyone in our class.

"As for as the environment for football goes, it's like heaven for a football player."

I watched an interview with this kid. He really seems like he has got his act together. I think he will be a great addition to the team!

IMO, he could come in and be one of those freshman that starts next year (like Kiffin said in the opening press conference)... Thats if we don't get M. Brown, Patterson, or A. Jeffrey.

Just watched Greens new video. This time it was half way visible unlike the others. This guy definitely gets it. Can tell his takes pride in blocking, showed decent speed and good ability. Really think he could contribute somewhere next year, either at WR or ST.

I see two new videos at Rivals. They are indeed much better than the old footage.
The 3rd one shows his speed more I think. The 2nd one it seems like he gets caught from behind on a few plays, especially the kick off return one. I don't know if it was the competition or what.

Also, in the 3rd one, I like seeing him going up for the jump balls in the endzone, seems effortless.

I would like to chalk up getting caught from behind to fatigue. Many of these highlights are from the same game.

Go to video 2 and click pause/play from about 0:26 - 0:29. He's going up for a jump ball and at his maximum elevation, his knees seem to be level with the defender's throat. I would venture to say he's catching the ball somewhere between 10' and 11' feet off the ground.

Rather impressive.

"WR James Green, Leon, Sr. — Selected All-State Class 4A honorable mention. The Tennessee commitment caught 45 passes for 807 yards and 10 TDs for regional semifinalist."

Congrats to James for being named an honorable mention for the all-state squad!

new Scout article up on Green.

his high school coach believes he needs to hit the weights, and when he does he'll increase his speed.

"He just needs to get a little bit more physically strong, and when that comes he'll get even faster. He can already run like a gazelle. When they get him stronger he'll only get faster too."

he seemed to like Green's work ethic and says he is currently running track.

This dude will be a big time player, IMO. We have not discussed him as much as Richardson and Teague. Glad he is here, I think he could end up being the best of the 3.

I had the pleasure of talking with his HS head coach at the Atlanta race this weekend. He had NOTHING but praise for the kid. He told me we got a good one when we got him. He said Green is running track and blistering all of Tallahasse in the 4x100. I asked actual size, weight, and speed versus whats reported on the recruiting sites and he answered "6'3", 190 pounds, and he just got running three straight 4.45 40 yard dashes last week on grass and electronic." Sounds like the kid is faster than people give him credit for.

I've been wondering why nobody is giving him any chance to come in and compete for a spot in the WR rotation!
