I had a kid playing NCAA sports (nowhere near what your son is doing.) It isn't easy being a parent in this situation.

Thanks for being here and for sharing your views, whether they're exactly what others want to see or not. And especially thanks for loaning us your son. :)

I understand where you're coming from, and you're right, we have been through a lot and it's frustrating as hell sometimes when we have days like Saturday, wonder wtf happen, after the game we see our kids spirits just broken down, we feel their pain, read the boards, and 95% of the parents read these boards; 80% actually post and y'all just dont' know it; you just happen to know who I am...... We're all fans of UT football at the end of the day, families are just more vested, and I respect your opinion.

Interesting...

I'm glad my dad didn't put something on the internet that could affect my relationship with my coaches and teammates. I don't think that's a good idea in the least bit. And talking about buying in like it's regretted? To add, "other schools read and see our messiness..." yet you are giving them material. "Freshman WR Croom's mom upset about buying in and posts about rotting from the head down". Doesn't really go along with the advice, imo.

Good luck this year. I hope we get things worked out.

1,000,000,000 % agree. Great post!

Appreciate the posting MZTERRY. Some days the GAME sucks and some days the GAME is full of glory. But through it all, we all wish these young a healthy season, body and mind. The season is young and we just had our butt's whooped. Lesson learned. Now we take that learned lesson to the swamp and show them what we know. Win or lose, I think it's going to be a crackerjack of a GAME.:hi:

EDIT - BTW, the jackass in the airport would have been a jackhole even if we had lost by one point. Some fans forget that it's a GAME played by young men and fail to realize that we were huge underdogs to begin with.

One can only wonder how the players manage their emotions after a game like that. Those guys are so far ahead of me when I was their age that it is ridiculous. I don't like to see a fan putting blame on any one player or make something bad out of some word or phrase a player used in an after game interview, which was perfectly understandable and appropriate.

Personally, I was mad as hell that our guys let Oregon get so much over on them, especially after the Ducks appeared rattled in the beginning while our players asserted their composure and control. I believe they got beat by an extraordinary team at the height of full development, but I do not accept the talk about our players being so inferior. There are a lot of very good players on this team. I agree with some of what MZTerry said; the coaches have work to do with their schemes and game plans. I'm not ripping the coaches, but our players were out played and our coaches were out coached. They had all better get ready for a tough game because Florida will have one for them.

Go Vols! Beat Florida!!!

I absolutely think they will. Manziel and Co put up 42 on Alabama's D. Oregon will run circles around them.

I think LSWHO will actually win the SEC Championship this year. They have an OC now that has a little sense and Mettenberger looks halfway decent.

All respect for you MZTERRY, and most often enjoy your input. However (my personal opinion) that combination is not the best mix.

Everyone has the right to read and post as they so choose. But when someone comes out as "I'm such and such's parent. I know the staff. I have insight to the program." etc... It should create a different sense of responsibility in what and how you post. It may not be fair, but it's the reality when you come out as a player's parent.

If players' parents are reading the forum, recruits' parents are reading the forum-- which I believe you have chastized many with this very fact.

How good is it for the program for recruits and their parents to see current players' parents criticizing the coaches and insinuating that the program is rotting from the head down? How beneficial is it to paint the team as a headless chicken, just flapping around because it doesn't know it's dead yet?

How beneficial is it to a fractured fanbase, after an embarrasing loss, to have a public fan with insight into the inner workings of the program, to post that stuff?

How beneficial is it to your son to have people approach CBJ and ask what he thinks of one of his players' moms publically criticizing him and alluding to the fact that his leadership is damaging the team-- that the team is just flopping around like a dead chicken because his leadership MIA?

I have mad respect for you and generally appreciate your insight. But that was very bad mojo, and I wouldn't have expected it from you. (That's probably indicative of how hard you took Saturday, as did most of us.)

Let's petition Freak to allow you a second, anonymous account, in which you can vent. That would allow you to post just like any of the rest of us. But IMHO, the MZTERRY account needs to refrain from that stuff.

:hi:

There are plenty of us still behind the team. Ill be driving 9 hours to support them this weekend. They only put 24 on Toledo... I'm excited to be there and cheer the guys on. Win or lose.

I realize he had that one big miss in the WKU game, but I thought Croom proved (on that TD catch) he could make plays...if they would just put him on the dang field.

Who knows, though, when you have a QB who can't hit open receivers.

Listen. Croom is a beast, a young beast who still learning how to use his amazing frame(no homo) against defenders, and learning defensive coverages. He will be huge for us. I only hope he doesn't leave early. We will and do need him.

Personally, I'm tired of this parent assuming that their opinion should carry more weight or is more valid than any fan who doesn't have a kid on the team. I have 2 sets of friends who have kids on the team and haven't had them tell me how to be a fan yet.

Parents need to stick to raising their kids and let the coaches coach. Players need to play.

Can we all assume that this is your opinion and that you feel it should carry some weight? Why would you type it if you didn't feel that way? Are we then to assume that you feel your opinion carries more weight than that of a players parent? What is shameful is you coming into a thread titled for her son and putting her down for commenting and giving an opinion.

Food for thought.

In a thread titled "Jason Croom" do you not feel Jason's mom may feel she has the right to put a comment or opinion in it?

Re-read my post. Then re-read it again. Don't ASSUME.

I don't like people ASSUMING it's o.k. to question a fan's ability or right to feel any certain way about UT football. PERIOD. Don't add or take away anything from that.
