Jay Graham should have been the highest paid non coordinator on that offensive staff,

I don't think this is going the way GiveHimSix wanted it to go. Maybe if he steps up the aggression level a little bit....

Butch probably could've offered more money, but that would have upset the balance of the staff (especially the guys that had been with him since C. Michigan).

We'll never know the real reason JG split - all we will hear are the same old platitudes if he does speak of it. What is known is he gets the title of recruiting coordinator, and he rekindles his relationship with Randy Sanders (and Sal, pfft). And FSU's prospects for immediate success are better...which would carry some weight for someone like Jay who moves around every 1-2-3 years.

Hopefully Butch will hire somebody as good or better and this will be a small footnote to the rebuilding of our football fortunes.

According to some reports CBJ & UT leaders offered to match what FSU was offering but Jay declined to stay!! So I'm thinking he was just wanting out!! It wasn't about $$ or he coulda stayed for the same pay!!

Your avatar is cool--I like the photoshop job of the power T onto Cincinnati's bowl helmets. :)

I'll be honest. I really don't know why all the hate for JG or CBJ over this. Coaches come and coaches go.

For the people hating on CBJ. If he was the reason JG left. So what. The man has yet to coach his first practice here, much less a game. Let him do the job the way he feels is right. It will either work out or it won't.

For those people hating on JG. If he chose to leave of his own accord. So what. He gave us all he had as a player here. That is all I ask of any player. He does not owe this school anything and it does not make him disloyal for leaving. Good luck to him in whatever he decides to do in the future. Maybe someday it will be at UT again.

I really liked CJG but there is no way he should have been the highest paid coach on staff.
it is that simple. None of those coaches are better than him or have a better reputation in the south than him. Real hard for me to believe no other coaches approached Jay about jobs before FSU, but he stayed out of loyalty to the university during the transition.

Volnation is never more ridiculous than when message board guy starts evaluating either "film" or assistant coaches.
Suggesting play calling based on what works on XBox falls in there somewhere.

Yes, it's well known that we offered to match the FSU offer. My opinion is that we could've paid more than the matching offer...but would have upset the balance of the existing staff.

And to make him the highest paid below the OC & DC as the OP suggests is, of course, ridiculous.

All depends on when he got the offer as to whether or not he was loyal. I like Coach Graham but I can't evaluate if he should've been the highest paid assistant. Thought he did a good job recruiting non rbs and coaching the rbs we had. Hate he left because of the 'turmoil' we're all feeling right now. Ready to move on and see who we get to replace him.

Do you hate that he left because of turmoil?

Or, because of the turmoil that his leaving created, you hate that he left?

I'm seriously asking. That's been an assertion by some here, and I'd like to know if there is any verifiable sources concerning turmoil on the staff, and within the program.

Most wr and rb voaches are on a staff for one reason and one reason only.....to recruit.

Dont know if that's the case here.....but, their involvement in game planning and play calling is usually minimal

speaking of loyalty, coach AZZ turned down 3 SEC offers after arriving at UT. I believe he maybe the most coveted coach that we have. The 3 turned down offers impress me as to his ability. I think we have a good one there.

Go Big Orange!!!!

show me????? Azzani (Wisc/Fla) pretty good rep,Thigpen, pretty good,Martinez really good,etc... Two seasons coaching a position of need and what rb did he bring us? I saw one of his rb's wearing a blue practice jersey? Any coach worth his salt would not want his players labeled lazy!! He played here and played on good Tenn Teams, for that I'm thankfu., You cannot show me a reason for thinking he was any better coach wise than any of the other assistants. Like Chuck Smith,he was a great player an VFL,but replacing him did not cause problems. Let CBJ do it his way! GOVOLS!

wth? When did that become the deciding factor for job experience?

"Hm... The SEC is the only conference that runs the ball. They're the only conference that has an offensive line that is supposed to open holes for a runner. They're the only conference that has that new-fangled "linebacker" position. Hey, any of you coaches out there ever come up against that strange defensive alignment? The one where they have two guys standing behind the defensive line? We'll pay big!"

Now go back and read what that was in response too then come back. Love it.

Graham was the best southern recruiter on the staff with Thigpen being the only one in his league, but you sheep keep telling yourselves this was all on Graham and not on Jones.

Tell me who has more SEC experience on the offensive side of the ball than Jay Graham?

That is what I thought.

Jones totally disrespected Jay when he paid Zach Azzanni more than him.

Azzanni for one dingbat! Great Rep while coaching at "FLORIDA" and then at "WISC". Urban Meyer had no SEC experience until he came an won a few games, sheesh. I'll take overall experience(years coaching) as in all the other coaches have been at it longer than CJG (some have been wih CBJ longer than CJG has been coaching) and have won a bunch of games. It's CBJ's ship to sail, let him do his thing!!! GO VOLS!!!

Um... I never said that. You feel foolish now, don't you? Admit it.
