Jay Graham to FSU (merged)

Those rumblings are the mcgriddles you had for breakfast.

"Stanford and such don't play in the SEC" - well said Jethro.

I was going to say something really sweet back to you, then I realized you live in Farragut. You fit the bill just right to live there judging from the above statement.

What are you gonna do about it, slick? March on down to Hart's office and burn a mattress?

No, you don't know what to do, and you don't know what your talking about...but don't let that stop you.

Settle down, Susan. You got your panties in a wad. I have a pretty good idea what needs to be done.

its not personal its just business baby....no one who posts here would turn down that kind of promotion and pay raise...and if you say you would the truth is not in you

Money helps but it's more then just that. Everyone wants to be happy, and CBJ wanted to work with Sanders. CBJ will also have a easier time finding recruits there, and there's a lot less travel as a recruiter for FSU then as a recruiter for UT.

You don't think there is a problem there, then you're beyond help.

This. Cheek is the main problem here, but Hart certainly isn't helping. Cheek does, indeed, need to go. I believe that he is the reason UT didn't get Gruden.

He's got an opinion just like you and just like me. Don't get upset because it might be different than yours.

Dec 6 2011 - UT Sports.com

"I am thankful to Coach Dooley for giving me the opportunity to return to Tennessee," Graham said. "Tennessee is a program with great football tradition and fan support, and I am honored to join the coaching staff for the Vols."

Naturally if you read between the lines, it sounds more like:

"I'm home at last, halleluja - it's my dream job and I'm VFL!! The only thing that could pull me away would be a booger-eating chancellor and some high academic standards."

Always good to 'here' from a grudenite. Especially one that preaches diversity of opinion and restraint. heh

Yeah...I'm sure a disasterous season along with a coaching change didn't have any impact. Trying to recruit without being able to say who the HC is gonna be or if he would even be their RB coach once the new coach was hired...I'm sure recruits never looked at that kind of stuff. You're writing it off quite easily, so I'm sure recruits just easily overlooked it. The cards were heavily stacked against Graham in recruiting during this coaching change. He held things together quite admirably IMO. Who else was out there helping us during the change? Why didn't these "more experienced coaches" who you claim "deserved" more money pull in more top flight recruits?

He's overlooking it so easily cause he was the one on here during all that negativity telling people that they r stupid if they believe that message boards affects recruiting. So he'll have to admit that he was wrong to be able to acknowledge it.

Graham is apparently eager to learn from that master of offense, Randy Sanders. And Sunseri is at fsu, too. The two worst ever coordinators at UT!

Was it Graham that saved the current class from being any worse than it was? If not, who was?

Let's see....he was the running backs coach, so at least THAT part of the recruiting class was OK! Wait a minute! What?!!!

Yeah. I just found it hilarious that he said Graham didn't land North, "it's a group effort on these big recruits"...yet it's Graham's fault we didn't get a big time RB, as if the "group effort" only applies to top flight recruits not labeled RB.

At the same time he was making a complete joke of himself on this thread, he was flipping to the "who replaces Graham" thread and gushing in defense of CBJ of how well he did in recruiting insuch a short time. Total double standard. CBJ and staff get zero blame for the "group effort" failure of pulling a RB, but get total credit for the guys we got, including guys CJG was lead recruiter for. Yet CJG gets total blame for not getting a RB, yet gets no credit for other big recruits...it was a "group effort". If a "group effort" got guys like North here, then a "group effort" failed at getting a RB. Just how I see it.

Those bashing CJG need to get real. Him being the second lowest paid guy on the staff AFTER a raise is a joke. Now we'll probably end up with a guy far less qualified. Getting a name guy would require paying the kind of money we obviously didn't want to pay CJG.

I'm a South Carolina fan.

I don't preach anything. I do, however, believe in diversity of opinion. Maybe you don't. That's fine. That's your right as an American.

heh

Yeah.

Erik Ainge just tweeted a little bit ago that the real story about jay leaving will be on his show tomorrow and not to believe everything you hear. Don't know if he's just trying to get ratings or what, never listened to his show before.

I am in shock. I haven't been on Volnation in a couple days and I just checked in to see this. I haven't read and have no idea why CJG is leaving for FSU but I did think CBJ short changed him a little in the pay department compared to a few other coaches. CJG missed on some running backs but he still recruited better then anyone else on staff. Damn I just not sure what to think. Knee jerk reaction aside I love Jay Graham and really hate this.
