Stupid take from someone who has never been a leader of a team of people. Getting arrested is far from ideal and initially “a poor reflection” on the program. But, getting arrested isn’t reason alone for throwing folks off the bus without fully investigating the incident - shows no loyalty from the leadership which damages their ability to lead the team.My last opinion....
Any TN player that reflects poorly on the school should be cut loose.....
Argue otherwise......
You don’t know this as all we know is what the police report said and Jaylen didn’t talk to the police. At this point it’s possible that the guy got punched inside Jaylen’s apartment then his drunk ass fell down some stairs causing his injuries. I’m shocked folks are so quick to jump straight to guilty for a guy who’s doesn’t have a known history of getting into trouble. He caused severe bodily harm to another person. Not sure how that’s crucifying him.
Screw you. My issue is Heupel has TN at #6 and Jaylan' dealt his own hand without Heupel promising immunity. Are you a racist dwight schrute or just playing a character?
Does any of this occur without some drunk dude illegally entering Jaylon’s home?Screw you. My issue is Heupel has TN at #6 and Jaylan' dealt his own hand without Heupel promising immunity.
Period. End of story.
Heupel wasn't sitting at #6 waiting on some dumbass Jaylan McCullough to do something stupid.
Does any of this occur without Jaylan McCullough creating it? It doesn't.
Eyes on the ball, y'all. This is on Jaylan and no one else.
You act like Knox police have never seen a beat down before.
What's wrong with you? Do you think the police give a damn about this particular beat down? Like they don't see fights...... like they don't see busted noses..... like they never see a split lip...... what the hell is wrong with you people? They charged this as a FELONY aggravated assault and you act like this is the first fight they've ever seen.
Seriously, remove the orange and white glasses, the police aren't looking to charge FELONY aggravated assault for no good reason.
Assault, sure. Aggravated assault, yeah. FELONY aggravated assault...... c'mon. Seriously, let's be reasonable.
So Jaylan shows police and admits to a bandaged but bleeding hand........ his gf is helping a guy who has been punched to oblivion....... and that gf says that guy just entered the room of a UT football player whose hand is bandaged and bleeding......Your an idiot for believing the police get it right every time they do or don’t arrest someone. Have you ever heard of courts, judges, and lawyers along with innocent until proven guilty?
You shouldn’t believe anything yet! You’ve determined guilt based only on the fact Jaylon was accused and the police decided there was enough probable cause to arrest him. Jaylon was smart enough to keep his mouth shut. You don’t know shat, yet you’ve already got him off the team. Jaylon may be 100% in the wrong here, but he deserves to be viewed as innocent until PROVEN otherwise. Being accused and arrested DOES NOT PROVE anything. So Jaylan shows police and admits to a bandaged but bleeding hand........ his gf is helping a guy who has been punched to oblivion....... and that gf says that guy just entered the room of a UT football player whose hand is bandaged and bleeding......
but nobody surely got punched.......
I should believe this guy merely fell down the steps despite the blood from Jaylan's bandaged hand.
Heupel has had a pretty short leash. We just kicked off a couple of bench warmers for off the field stuff. And have we had any suspensions for drugs or missing class? Not concerned with conviction.
I'm concerned with what kind of program the TN Vols under Josh Heupel run.
If we're FL with Urban Meyer, fine..... own it. I'm not okay with it, but own it.
It’s a sliding scale. As the “quality of athletes” improve, you see more arrests for violent crime. But there’s a big difference between Lawrence Phillips/Aaron Hernandez and someone who chose to punch someone in the face rather than call the cops. You can always choose to de escalate.Your never going to get college aged highly conditioned athletes oozing testosterone who are playing a violent sport to flip some switch to think like a 40 year old and “just walk away no matter what”. That’s a dream world.
Everyone is entitled to a day in court. The AJ Johnson episode should’ve told us that.
With that said, Johnson never played another down for us. If he’s charged with a felony, Heupel has 2 choices. Play him or be willing to let this matter play out with him unable to play for the next 3 months. Even traffic violations take weeks to process.
This might be a teachable moment that you just have to walk away no matter what.
It’s easy for me to de escalate as a 60 year old. Was a whole different ballgame when I was a 20 year old college athlete. Let a drunk come into my house and call me a dick today and I’m not promising no violence. It’s a sliding scale. As the “quality of athletes” improve, you see more arrests for violent crime. But there’s a big difference between Lawrence Phillips/Aaron Hernandez and someone who chose to punch someone in the face rather than call the cops. You can always choose to de escalate.
What you see is what you get with this year's Tennessee secondary it's too late to make any big changes. This Tennessee team reminds me of the Late 1970s-Mid 1980s BYU teams or the 1980-1982 San Diego Chargers teams a hell of a lot of offense and poor defense.Coach Willie has some work to do this week with the DB’s.
