Jaylen McCollough arrested

Not knowing all details or if narrative about going into apartment of accused is correct but if true ..Good attorney will have this go away. Mitigating factor is The alleged victim wrongly entered accused dwelling while accused was minding own business . Would wait this week to see how this one pans out. If CJH says today we are looking into what happened, this most likely will be pleaded down or dropped ( $ ) . If he is tossed today, they have the whole story and are confident in sources.
Is there still a Fulmer Trophy around?

Isn't this different? He wasn't out looking for trouble. He was in his home when a drunk walked in.

So, you know for sure that he had no chance but to engage in violence after that occurred? He didn't have the opportunity to stay out of it and remain calm? Walking away was not an option?

Sometimes in life and on the football field, you need to make split second decisions, decisions that can potentially alter the course of your life and or the lives of people around you. We've all been in them and luckily, cooler heads prevailed because we all were able to understand the consequences. My concern here is that did Jaylen react to a negative situation correctly? Nobody on VN knows, so this is more of a rhetorical question mind you. It would be fruitless for anyone but Jaylen to attempt to establish the truth here, as only he knows. I am hoping he did everything humanly possible to stay above the fray. Now, it will be up to our judicial system to determine his guilt or innocence. Prayers are with this young man.

I’m no defense attorney, but I watch a ton of law and order. Man enters your home… you feel it is an attempted burglary. You confront him and try to stop him as he flees so the police can question him. A struggle happens while you were attempting to apprehend him for the police as any good citizen would. He attacks you and you punch him. Unfortunately he was standing in a place where he feel backwards and fell down the stairs. Self-defense…. Even Jack McCoy would have a hard time charging you on this one!

So he punched a guy in the mouth that just randomly walked into his apartment?
If that's the case then good for him.
That's where I fall with this. I have a hard time asking a 21 year old to behave in a manner in which most adult men would have did the same thing. Many, if not most "men" aren't going to take kindly to being called a dick in their own home by an intruder.

I don't know the self defense laws in TN, but you don't normally chase someone outside of your domicile. Once they have left, its not up to you to chase them down, but I could be wrong. Also, that may not be the truth, but it is what we have heard so far.

Listen , I watched probably 15-20 correctional youth by myself behind locked doors , story after story , some sadder than others, no empathy here. Control your freaking self! No point in highlighting horse crap.

Stay out of other peoples property. The laws should protect the victim not the criminal. He was only protecting himself.

The problem I see with this is how long does this drag out? The Victim has already got his story out of which should be verified at some point. So McCollough is out for the AL game regardless of the truth. We have no idea if words were exchanged either you would think they were.

I love the "Back the Blue" folks who turn on the police when it's a TN Vol.

Screw you. The police aren't interested in charging a felony for no reason for a simple fight. You've never been out there, obviously, as a cop or in a bar fight.
I’m not a back the blue type. Good job assuming though. Police overcharge all the time.
